Your making a big assumption that he will come off the bench.

 

Can't say I agree with the Benteke criticism. His hold up play has been poor but he's been our solitary threat, with good movement in the box. Personally I think the issue is the lack of midfielders following the play. They all get to the edge of the box and think "someone else will run into the box, better not risk it" and then Benteke's the only one in there. Teixeira needs to be the one getting into the box with him as well as Ibe, who needs to be ready to attack it. And if Smith is going to be throwing caution to the wind, he needs to be more composed in delivering crosses.
Our passing is wayward today, we need someone like (ugh) Allen on to shuffle possession, or Henderson if he's fit. I'd rather they get some rest though.

West Ham were largely trying to bypass the midfield when that's you're obvious weak point when on the back foot - mystifying.

Chances either end, Smith looks great going forwards, but he's no defender that lad.

Benteke was a bit unlucky but he's dropping off instead of getting into the areas where he's going to score, far too often.

 

Wrighty just summed it up. No ****ing movement at all, except to run next to the cb. Christ, it's not as if the cb even has to mark him.

He does it so often in every match he plays it can only be instruction.

But as i said...why are we firing so many balls up to him and yet our players are nowhere around him to pick up the second ball? Don't waste playing the ball if we aren't going to use it...

His runs, passes, winning the ball, and shots have all been better than everyone else on the team
