I missed what started this whole thing, must have been feisty but while we do enjoy extremely liberal moderation we must recognise thatit isn't to everybody's taste. While SaintsFTW calling me scum may be water off a duck's back to me, others may find it unacceptable. I know the language has turned a few good 606 regulars off the site an we have also lost a great contributor in Genji. It isn't an easy one to figure out by any means. If the regulars try to ensure an acceptable use of their own language and quietly remind other less regular posters of their language should it get a bit distasteful should solve most problems as it seems the language is one of the main reasons for tempers boiling over. Should it go further and get personal then immediate moderator intervention is needed. Simple small punishments like a days ban from the F1 board getting bigger and bigger with each infringement. Just keep the atmosphere free and open but remind people there are rules to acceptable use which must be adhered to.
Yes but if you say a comment like I hope Vettel crashes out or retires and your a Hamilton fan... have you done anything wrong??? In terms of the Title I am sure everyone here except Vettel fans want that to happen, but should we refrain from saying things like that??? Mods????
No I wouldn't imagine there would be a problem with that. If you were to say "I hope Vettel crashes and injures himself fatally" a problem may arise
I really don't think that we need any more mods. The Sunderland forum has 2 (3 if you count cyprussyd, but he's a super mod), so for a substantially smaller board with much more benign posters we don't need more. If anything, 3 is overkill, people either need to stop insulting people, or others need to stop getting so offended at anonymous opinions, and if any blatant fanboy comes and destroys all debate, ban him or get rid of the comments.
But the mods are not here at all times. Like El_Bando posted he said he had a Family BBQ going on and trusted us and war broke out, they do have personal lives... Maybe one more would add solidification to our already brilliant 3 mods.
I dont think another moderator is really needed. All we have to do is work together and it will be fine
Cosi would be an excellent choice, but we don't need more moderation, lets simply control the thing ourselves, it works well as it is, a few fireworks now and again are to be expected, me I'm 65 now and have learnt to accept I may not be as perfect as I thought I was, suggest others, should perhaps take a look at themselves on occasion.
Suggesting, bribery and corruption, you must work for Scotland Yard, now that's something we would not have said a few weeks back.
Yeah that's what I suggested. Cosicave is a amazing character that shines through the arguments of this forum. But if El_Bando says it's OK, then I think it will be fine.
I think everyone needs to accept that people will say things they don't mean in the heat of a race weekend, when you have factions of the board celebrating and others commiserating there's obviously going to be friction. As long as no ill-feeling spills over into the intervening days (which this now has) there shouldn't be a problem. All this fallout seems to have stemmed from one satirical thread, which has sadly resulted in another respected member leaving the forum. As far as having another moderator is concerned, I'd be more than happy to have someone take over from me (Forza would be my first choice, but Cosi would also be good). I've not been on as much in the last couple of months and I moderate two boards (and the other is about ten times more active than this), so having to sift through a load of PMs when I sign in is a ball ache I could do without.
I can't see how it would hurt having another mod, it can only help in my opinion. Wouldn't like to see any of the current ones go though.
