Hi Hi Hi contains a few dodgy lines, such as "gonna do it, sweet banana" (sex ref.) and "we're gonna get hi hi hi" (drugs ref.)

Even My Love, as in "does it good, to o oo me"

Lucy in the Sky - apparently not about drugs

Strawberry Fields - definately about drugs :emoticon-0100-smile

The Beatles were even banned from Hong Kong 'cos of drugs :emoticon-0126-nerd:

    Paul McCartney . . . . what a little tinker he is :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Controversial as in just ruffle a few political feathers like anarchist like to do? or actually disturbing controvertional lyrics/songs where you don't need the newspapers to tell you that it's a bit wrong?

If it's the first, these made the news

If it's the second(more my bag)

They're both Lennon mate. Strawberry fields is a children's home near his Aunt Mimi's house and Lucy in the Sky's supposedly a picture Julian did as a kid.

Whether they're about drugs or not I don't know but they were clearly written by a man well into his drugs. Trippy.

When he was asked about this in 2000 a.d., John Peel remembered one when "i maybe shouldn't say this on radio, but the **** really did hit the fan". <laugh> This was the legendary 'Heroin' by The Velvet Underground, fronted by Lou Reed, produced by the artist, Andy Worhol, and all bowled over by the gorgeous 'Paris model turned bad', Nico. It was, I suppose, the birth of 'punk', even if it was about six years in advance of it. It was, as Peel said, a truly revolutionary track. Can you believe - I bought this in 1968 !!!
