Morgan took one for the team on several occasions, but he was never out of control. Victor's size may also make it look worse....let's face it we wouldn't want to be tackled by him :) However, Morgan wouldn't have done a tackle like that when there was no danger....stupid and reckless.

Or maybe 'donut' is a cheeky reference to big Vic's behaviour.

If I was a cynical person I might suggest that Victor was being an arse in order to force a move

Mane seems to be doing the absolute minimum this season as he wants out and with now Man City allegedly joining the race to sign him, it does go to show that you don't have to be playing well to get a big money move away from Saints

You're assuming that there is some truth in the Man City rumour, which is exceedingly doubtful. If I was Pep Guardiola I'd be looking further afield at players doing better than Sadio Mane!

Yeah I really don't see anyone offering in excess of £30m for Mane on his current form.

Must say I've been a bit disappointed in him this year, was expecting a lot more!!

I was in Munich last April and the local papers were touting stories of Mane's arrival.
I really hope not but now Pep is going to City, there may be some legs in the latest reports.

Well yes, although he is even closer to home than Mane is currently! Much as I'd hate to see it happen, I would think Riyad Mahrez is probably a lot higher on Pep's list than our Sadio.

This is what happens when I give short answers. :)

What I meant was, a player of Bony's quality doesn't get a game. Mane is, at the moment, no better. It doesn't make sense for him to leave Saints. Besides which, the rumour is the usual crap. He's contracted for another 2 years plus.

What's game time got to do with it? Getting snapped up by one of the Big Boys is only about doubling your already hugely inflated wages...dont bring football into the equation and complicate matters!

As I said the other day. Some footballers get to certain clubs, their careers virtually end, and then they wonder what they became footballers for. :)

I think the Beeb and most of the media is determined to sell Mané for us - and so prices will stay high. Perhaps I shouldn't let it wind me up so much.

It might seem odd that the media has determined that Mané is going to Man Utd and therefore (in their own perversion of logic) he must be world class player, but it fits with the media's narrative.

The current story goes like this:

    Southampton sell lots of players.
Southampton buys players who are all remarkably good - too good for Southampton.
Mané is one of these players.
Mané is going to Manchester United.
Manchester United are the BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD.
Manchester United only buy world class players.
Manchester United spend lots of money.
Therefore, Mané is going to Man Utd for lots of money.

At this point the story has enough inertia that it is self-sustaining. Little things like "Is Mané actually that good?" and "Are Mant Utd actually any good?" have become irrelevancies - and are in fact irritating distractions from a good story. Commentary for each match BEGINS with what sounds suspiciously like "Man of the Match Mané". Missed chances are now bad luck. Mané stupendous hat trick still happened last week.

I have no love for LVG, but as he said, a story about him being replaced by Mourinho has become fact merely through repetition - not substantiation. No doubt, some rumours are true - but only just enough that the media can pretend they have integrity.

Mane really hasn't been that bad. He hasn't scored in a while, but he's still more often than not our main attacking threat. He does have six assists, and if anyone on the team could finish he'd probably have 2 or 3 more.

If he were Shane Long, everyone would be talking about how much attention he draws from defenders even if he doesn't score. But since he's not Shane Long, he's lazy and "doing the absolute minimum."

And another, and please don't mention another of the present squad. You lose a player you get an equivalent in. That's the point I'm making here.

    Yes, Clasie with one S.

Mane has a had few industrious performances of late, albeit rather toothless and profligate.

Hopefully he'll be struck by the epiphany that we're going places again, will get him back on his mettle.

The media need something to talk about, remember the old saying "the only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about". We should be flattered they want to make up crap about us.

Recent experience seems to indicate that we get players and make them look better than they really are and then a club with too much money buys them and makes them look worse than they really are. Look at Morgan yesterday, comes on at 1-0 and carries a lot of responsibility for Chelsea's equaliser by wandering up the pitch and them wandering back again. When he played for us he would have been making that vital tackle to stop the Chelsea attack. He's got a bit lost in the red haze of international mediocrity that is ManU at the moment.

Maybe we can get him back to replace Victor?
