We should also acknowledge Yoshida's off the ball movement, to get into the 6 yard box, rather than stay out by the 18 yard line.
    It was Austinesque. :emoticon-0142-happy

I think you should watch the replay of the pass and it may change your opinion, to me it looked a deliberate pass by Vic, although how Maya got into that position to score is more of a mystery.

Made me laugh that the crowd were getting annoyed by West Ham taking any time over throw ins. We were in the lead FFS. Why is the Southampton crowd trying to get them to hurry up?

That is ridiculous. We already have players rolling around and slapping the ground just to stop breakaways. Harry Arter yesterday was disgraceful. From his actions he had broken a leg or something yet once the ball eventually went out he was fine. Sick and tired of people play acting. That should be ruled out and carded not encouraged. Therefore Wanyama should have got the red and Payet should have got a yellow for feigning. Then the West Ham players should have been told to stop harranging or be carded, then he should have sent 4 of them off because they continued and then let the game carry on.

It is ridiculous that you as a referee are saying that players should simulate. Simulation is a cardable offence and in my eyes any attempt to make anything look worse than it was is simulation and should be wiped out. If it is a foul it is a foul. If you roll over and somersault when the foul (or no foul) did not cause that then yellow card.

If you were dying yet 2 minutes later are running around like a spring chicken then you should be carded. You will never wipe this stuff out of the game until it is cracked down on and hard.

But if we appeal and then appeal again and again maybe he will serve his ban for Tottenham or Arsenal once he leaves :)

He shouldn't have gone down Tom. He should be applauded for his sportsmanship in staying on his feet.

If that is the case and the referee doesn not go into each game with a clean sheet free from any perceived or experienced reputations of players then I hope that in his notebook alongside his 'tackles dangerously' comment next to Wanyama's name that he also writes:
    Noble - Constantly complains
Payet - Make a meal of things
    Forster - Doesn't wave

Then next time he can remind himself of what he needs to look out for before the game.

Add to my previous post. They obviously have in their notebooks - Shane Long - makes a meal of things.

He does make a meal of things so maybe Tom is right and that is why when he does get fouled they aren't convinced.

There's a thin line between being sporting and being naïve.

No wonder the refs in the PL are a joke.

No, Bertrand was right to stay on his feet!

What needs to happen is for refs to have some bollocks and give decisions based on what they see rather than the players reaction. Players should not need to go down to get a decision for ****s sake.

So you are saying he should simulate. That is exactly what you are saying. Making a conscious decision to go down = simulation.

I thought that, surely if the challenge didn't make you lose your feet then going down is simulation by definition?

Whereabouts is the thin line defined in the rules of football or the referees guidelines? Imps is quite right, the only way to get rid of diving and simulation is to clamp down hard on it, so you can't say that players have to be a little bit guilty of it, it just doesn't wash.

And before you reply, I do understand that this would make life harder for referees in the short term, but it would be worth it.

No it shouldn't but look what happens when someone tries to stay on their feet in the penalty area. No penalty given. Referees will instantly think there is no or little contact and certainly not severe enough to warrant a red card.

What should be happening is when a player pushes someone aggressively in the neck he should be sent off, however when the fouled player goes down cluthing his eyes he should be yellow carded.

Happens all over the pitch, player gets a clip on the ankle and is then clutching his shin bones or his knee. That is simulation and simulation is a bookable offence.

I want to see referees at least go up to a player and say "Look I gave you the foul there as it was but if you go diving around like that again foul or not I will book you".

I want to see the law applied all the time and every time. Not some ignored because it is commonplace.

I want the stupid rule retrospective action only if the referee didn't see it to be rescinded. It is BS and the FA / FIFA should just get on with things and accept referees make mistakes and referees miss things and apply the law if it is wrong.

They use this rule when it suits. They rescind cards on appeal and they give out cards for any crazy stuff. Just get on with doing it for the whole game.

Like with penalties, you have to be 100% sure before you give a red card. Therefore it's perfectly natural that someone staying on their feet will plant that little bit of doubt in the referee's mind so will only show yellow.
