That is a ridiculous statement. Some forms of discrimination are necessary, for example, women not allowed in front-line combat, under 18s don't have the vote, the age of consent, pension age, no drivers under the of 17 etc. Even the increased likelihood of certain ethnic groups being "stop-and-searched" is sensible in my opinion, because there is no doubt that some minority groups are more likely to commit crimes. Others would be preferable too, but unfortunately our authorities are too PC. These are the increasing use of female police officers. I'm not saying that they don't have their place within the police force (family liason and whatnot), but they certainly shouldn't be tackling dangerous criminals. My dad was a police inspector for a while and is a very tolerant man, never have I ever heard him express a homophobic, racist or sexit sentiment. But he used to bemoan the proliferation of police women. Apparently the majority weren't up to the job for a number of reasons eg. they couldn't "take a bollocking" without bursting into tears, they were generally less objective and found it more dificult to become emotionally involved in cases, they found it harder to get along with other female officers.
No chance to being able to delete comments... to many people would use it like 606 and delete comments they didn't like/agree with.
I am all for it as it may stop people from posting abusive comments if they think the OP may delete them

If you don't like a comment then simply report it - Mick will decide and i'm perfectly happy with that arrangement. The opportunity for the OP to delete comments would make this site a 'precious farce' and was a terrible feature on the BBC 606 site. No thanks - I like this site just the way it is... apart from the multiple account bollocks of course. Tragic.
