More than 99% of the football clubs in the world have to sell to buy, unless you've got some clown with a bottomless pit of money -- there really aren't many of them out there. Far too many Newcastle fans sulk feeling sorry for themselves thinking we have the worst owner in the world, when really aside from the debt ignoring clubs like Man U, Man City, Barca or Chelsea, this is the policy of EVERYONE ELSE!

Look at every Brazilian or Argentinian club who sells players like Neymar for 40+m, do you think they turn around and buy 40+m worth of players? No. How about when Hazard, Lukaku, Aguero, Falcao, etc. get sold? Their clubs aren't being an equivalent back, because if they could afford to pay that price, or if they were good enough to attract those players, they wouldn't have sold theirs in the first place!

Don't get me wrong, Ashley has terrible PR and communication skills, and his intentions for owning the club are mystifying, and I too HATE SportsDirect being on every inch of SJP, but let's just not pretend every club but us are a "buying club"!

P.s., if the club wanted nothing more than to sell Enrique, Barton, and everyone else with an ounce of value, they'd already be sold, or at least be advertised as shamelessly as a half price tracksuit at SD.

EDIT: I also do want another couple players brought in before the summer is done, don't get me wrong. I'm just sick of the 'woe is me' attitude among fellow Toon fans right now, it's not a good colour on us.

I get your point but the majority of fans I see over the internet name Pardew as a puppet, that's what really annoys me. On topic though I don't think we are in a situation as bad as Everton & Blackburn. I feel sorry for Everton fans tbh because they don't spend unless they sell their stars.

However clubs like us will have a massive advantage when Mega rich owners leave clubs like Chelsea and Man City.

Yeah, somebody said this yesterday too. Every dog has its day and in future I'm sure (well more hopeful) that the 'also rans' will have their day.

things should get fairer when the FIFA financial fair play rules kick in but then the clubs with the mega rich owners will be trying find loopholes around them.

The difference is between those which are more and those which are less likely to sell their best players. Man U sold C. Ronaldo but boy were R. Madrid made to work for it. Barca are being made to jump through hoops of fire fo Fabregas.

Carroll on the other hand took a day of negotiation, and you can bet it wouldn't take much longer to convince him to part with Enrique or example.

Can we make the word "pace" an expletive so it gets censored out every time this numpty uses it?

That's not true though. Spurs had been in for him earlier in the month, and Liverpool had had one or two bids rejected earlier that day.

At the time he was sold, they were paying £35mil for a kid who was still mostly unproven in the Premiership, and had asked to leave. They were already paying way, way over the odds, and there was no more time to 'negotiate', and I'm not sure what more you'd expect them to negotiate for anyway.
