I've always acknowledged that Shelvey won a lot of points for us last year and probably made sure we were 8th not 12th, that's how important he was, Dai. But even I have to admit his effort simply wasn't there towards the end and his comments about being hounded out of Swansea were laughable - and insulting. That should tell you he didn't want to be here if nothing else does.

The guy was given an opportunity to put it right v Oxford and Curtis told him so. He wasn't alone but his effort in that game was appalling.

I think your interpretation of run is different from everyone else's, to say he loved playing for us you must be joking he loved playing for Shelvey the rest of the team were a burden to him , the bloke wanted out and thank god the Club agreed .

Since Shelvey made his debut with Newcastle they are 2 wins 2 losses .Wins over West Brom ( 1-0 ) and West Ham ( 2-1 ) .Both important 1 goal victories , Shelvey basically was responsible for setting up all 3 Newcastle goals . Newcastle are already getting their money's worth and Shelvey is just getting started imo . They are using him more in line with his best way to play ,in the centre , like the middle 4 squares of a chess board , and not closer to his defence like we did .

Shelvey can be a brilliant player, but he cant be relied upon to be so all the time. He was brilliant and crap in equal measures with Liverpool and was the same for us. The tradition continues too at Newcastle, where he's been brilliant twice and crap twice.

Thing is he has everything, vision, a rapier shot, precision passing. He he can boss any game but his Achilles heal appears to be his temperament. His up and down nature does effect how he plays week to week which has a detrimental effect on his consistency. Unfortunately, managers need consistency to do the simple things like plan tactics for the next match. With Shelvey, he's like a French team, you never ever know what your going to get.

I got no problems with Shelvey, but if I was faced with £12m or Shelvey for the rest of the season, I'd have done the same and taken the money.

To blame shelvey for every loss or mistakes made on the pitch is nothing more than wrong. We are where we are because of everyone including Jenkins and not just one player. Our club has a bad habit of latching on to one person and making him the fall guy. £12m for a current England international is a snip and it is no wonder the toon one of our rivals for relegation could not believe their luck that we accepted their offer as we make them stronger and us weaker.....Shelvey has already put us in a worst position and has been MOM twice helping the toon and it should never have been and we could end up paying the price for being so stupid......who are we going to blame now when we lose our next 3 games.....

We've got 13 points from 10 games since Monk left with 3 victories
Monk got14 points from 15 games till he got sacked with 3 victories .
Are you prepared to give praise to someone for the improvement shown since Monk's departure or praise to someone if we don't lose our next 3 games dai ...edit , Monk got 14 points

I cant give any praise to anyone especially Jenkins and the board for the way they have handled this season, Even if we should just scrape home this season nobody deserves any praise and they wont get any off me im afraid, They don't deserve any putting us in this position in the first place....

Not even Curtis who took us from a dire situation to stabilization or Guido who is unbeaten so far . Or Britton who has basically taken the team by the scruff of the neck and moved them forward . I get the feeling that if we kept on losing under Monk you'd be ok and asking for more time for him
