Well, I've slept on it to see if I feel any different but sadly, I do not. The appointment of LJ has, in my opinion revealed the full magnitude of the hypocrisy of our owner's ambition for this club and in saying this, I want to be clear that this is NOT an LJ bashing thread.

That said, I think that whatever happens this season, I consider that our activity in the January window was good enough that I expect it to be sufficient to keep us in this division this year so in my eyes, the real test for him will come next season.

I fully accept that Mr Lansdown has poured a huge amount of money into this club and obviously does not want to continue this indefinitely however, just when we are on the brink of having a self sustaining stadium to be proud of, this appointment tells me that our owner is not prepared to make the investment required to take us to the next level and that by sticking so rigidly to the 5 pillars (which has one hugely fundamental flaw), he has declared that he is happy that we continue to ply our trade as a championship club at best.

After all the speculation, hype, and "high calibre" of managers who supposedly applied (I would love to know who these were) the appointment of what can only be described as a budget manager willing to accept someone else's choice of player shows the true extent of his ambition. This is not quite Tinnion or Millen territory but it is not far short...

If this is the case and Mr Lansdown is not prepared to fund the pop at the Premier League as previously stated, it is quite simple. Just come out and say that he is not prepared to put any more serious money in the club and then we as a fan base can revise our expectations accordingly.

I for one have already done this and will run this thread to it's end and then depart (off out to lunch now)...

The confusing thing about this debacle is the change from coach to manager then back to coach .. .. Sod was head coach, SC was manager junior is head coach!
As I pointed out elsewhere before Junior was confirmed, maybe City can see a different approach as has Barnsley apparently with some one leaving it will not upset the apple cart !
Certainly John and Korey have DONE A FANTASTIC JOB in the 4 league games they were in charge 7 points from 12 , I know a small sample but a good one to keep going even if it drops to 6 from 12, and Junior is likely seen as a compliment to it. He has a couple years at the sharp end whilst JP and Korey have been background... so give it whirl and lets see
6 from 12 will see us on 52 points BTW

Korey does brilliantly for us but to say he was joint manager is a bit too far JGF <whistle>

Prem I've one question for you, you and a few others are saying that's it not renewing the season tickets or not going no more.
Will you come back and announce you are going again if LJ gets off to a good start?
Also just because you don't agree with the decision resigning from the board is a tad to strong, your views are always welcome and well put together so don't leave the board just because you're not happy.
I wasn't happy with SoD and fell out of love with football but still went and stayed on this board. Trust me after my boys had no interest in football I took several years off to spend time with them growing up and missed it like mad.

I have been saying this, as virtually a lone voice for many years.

Lansdown gives me zero confidence he knows what he's doing, what he wants, and worst of all, how he intends to achieve it. He is beyond my contempt.

Lie follows lie followed by, or preceded by periods of silence.

I don't like the bloke and I trust him even less. His decision making is fatally flawed and if he sold the club tomorrow, I would be delighted. WE WOULD BE NO WORSE OFF.

Because then, we might just find an owner with a clue and a chance of the top flight in my lifetime.

Listening to a strident S L last night reminded me of a man I worked for - Robert Maxwell.

It's his money and you'll do as I say was the message with a strong hint of menace.
Anyway we must review the following this time next season.

'Hi Everyone, Barnsley fan here. Just thought I'd let you know what to expect from your new Head Coach:

Loans loans & more loans- When he 1st came to Oakwell he made 4 or 5 loan signings which most agreed were necessary. Then in the summer he went and got 7 short term loan signings BEFORE the season had even started which started off a never-ending revolving door of mediocre loan signings up until his departure.

Boring & baffling tactics- Throughout most of his time here he played 1 up top while instructing the midfield & defence to run and pass it around like crabs. A lot of his substitutions were head scratchers too.
Favouritism- No matter how bad or out of form a player is he will just keep persisting & persisting with them if he's mates with them or he signed them.
Fantastic convincing talks & interviews- Don't be fooled by his words!
Good crowd- Always claps the fans and waves when requested.

Just over a month ago he had led us to the rock bottom of League 1 after the worst run since 1955. Without the signing of Hammill we would probably still be there. Like many of our fans I am not bitter but relieved he is finally gone. He would have been sacked in about October if we didn't have to pay him 500k in compo. I am amazed that any club would want him to be honest.

Oldham fans warned us and now I'm warning you. Lee Johnson is a tactically inept ship jumper who can talk himself out of anything.
Good luck this season. You're going to need it.

ROD, I expect us to stay up this year and this will be because of the work already done before our new appointment arrived. Like I said, for me, next season will be the acid test for him.

After 40+ years of unwavering support through good times and bad, I took a break from this board after the McInnes/SOD debacle having become disillusioned with the whole business. I never stopped going to games but I was a bit more selective and it took some time to get my enthusiasm back.

Finally, it seemed that we were building something and gaining momentum but the summer transfer activity (or lack of) sounded a warning bell and yesterday's appointment pretty much confirmed to me that contrary to his words, our owner is satisfied with championship/league one football.

Now that's fine if this was always the case but when he said that he has a plan to get into the premier league, I actually believed that this meant he was prepared to make one last investment in order to achieve this ambition but clearly, this is not the case.

AN has been a solitary campaigner for some time now however I have always defended SL as without his investment, I felt (and still do) that we may not even have been around or more likely, playing at the same level as the Blue few.

City will always be my club but now I am in major conflict because I no longer trust what our owner says about what he is going to and I have serious problems getting involved in something I don't believe in any more....

Prem you are allowed a voice and I don't give a s... about what others think, keep your intelligent and constructive contributions coming.

My own feelings and thoughts are not that far away from your own, in fact I feel like chucking all of my own participation up. I'm not far away, stay with us and participate.<ok>

Simply put we have gone for what would come here.
Think the reasons were we wanted quality, quality did not want to come.
SL said he was coming to sort the managers position himself, personally think we were turned down by many applicants.
He then managed to get a cheap option who will be dictated to,by the suits above.

I think we were probably turned down by some quality candidates because we would not deviate from the plan and allow them to recruit their own players. Messrs Ashton and Burt's opinion was put ahead of the knowledge and ability of experienced managers who's judgement was considered unacceptable and who no doubt told us to do one....

What we have now is a yes man who will do as he is told and who saw an opportunity too good to refuse. I was going to say who could blame him but on reflection, frankly he must be completely insane to take the job knowing how popular he is with some of the fan base.

This in turn has proved something to me that I had refused to believe up to now which is that SL is indeed truly clueless. This is football mate, not some corporate machine. Much as Cameron believes he can run the NHS as a Plc, our owner is equally deluded....

I have said for years the money SL has put into the club over the years, should have given better rewards.

It's always a bit of a lottery picking a new manager - who is to say that Moyes or Pearson or whoever would do a better job?

He's my clubs new manager and I'll be backing him

My worry is that some people are just waiting for him to fail
