Morning all, rather grey but dry and mild here with the promise of sun this afternoon. An early start for me as the man with his large sucking lorry is coming to empty and clean my fosse. He phoned last night to say he would be arriving sometime this morning, but no time. Quite often we will have a heating oil lorry arrive at 8.00 am in the village, also the farm gets into full swing about that time. These days unless there is something happening my day starts gently, with some breakfast and a catch up with the news. In the summer there seems so much more reason to get underway earlier as very often you need to get out of the sun for a couple of hours in the afternoons. The days are getting longer by about 3 minutes every day, so summer is heading our way. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Hi all, back from my few days in Prague. Watching the Sparta Prague ice hockey match on Wednesday was an eye-opener. I've never seen police at a Cardiff Devils game and it is the first time I've ever been subjected to a security search with a metal detector at a sports venue. They have 4 drummers at one end (the visiting fans had 2 at their end) - imagine what that sounded like in an enclosed arena.

Morning all from a wet and windy Bandit Country, just having a healthy breakfast before going to the station to get the beer train up to The Lane. I have not been there for years.

The last time I went there was the 5-1 semi final defeat to Chelsea. It looked so promising at half time.

I am looking forward to being back today, hopefully with a decent result. Most pundits think we will lose 3-1 so desperate to prove them wrong.

It's a smashing ground but a pain in the arse to get to. My sister and nephew are coming down from Bedford so we'll meet at kings cross and make our way from there. I actually feel like a kid on Christmas Eve :)

Morning all, bright and breezy in my bit of the country today. Last time I went to White Hart Lane the traffic was so bad I didn't get there until it was too late to get in. This was pre-tickets in advance days so must have quite a few years back. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I turned up with some friends in the early seventies to watch Spurs play Arsenal in their title winning season. We were locked out with about 100,000 others.

I turned up with some friends as well - a Monday night game after we had lost 3-0 at Bramall Lane in Watford's last match.

However, we did get in by creeping up the side walls of a turnstile and as the crowd trying to get in swayed backwards and forwards, we inched closer and then in. The turnstiles were shut just after.

We were at the end where Kennedy scored the winning goal, went on to the pitch and up into the old main stand afterwards.

Hope the oven is an electric one and you just get your ears burnt.

Reminds of when I lived in an English village, 5 miles from the nearest gas supply. A lass telephoned me one day to try and get me to change my energy supplier. She had this wonderful cheap plan, but when I told her that it was not possible to have a duel contract for gas and electricity, she completely lost it. "If you do not have gas how do you cook" she asked. "Where are you telephoning from" I asked her. "Warrington, and everyone has gas here"

Morning all from a sunny but windy St. Helier. OFH, further to your anecdote about energy suppliers, I'm not even sure why Jersey Gas as a company still exists unless there is some industrial need. I can't remember exactly why, but there is some reason that gas is not practical for most, if not all, homes on the island.

That is strange Barry, as looking at their web-site they say this. "The gas mains network is extensive and covers the major population centres of the island."

Morning all from a dry and breezy Bandit Country - apparently storm Imogen is on its way and will hit the south tonight, so everything is bolted down and the rabbit is tucked up in the kitchen but trying to avoid our loony tortoise.
Out for lunch with the family at our local, this is the first time we have all been together on a Sunday for months!

#2 son has had his offer on a house accepted, so just waiting for that to proceed - hopefully the people he is buying off get a move on as his partner is heavily pregnant and the baby is due in 4 weeks!
