I am glad we got one back on the spam. They didn't deserve the victory at their place and didn't deserve even a point yesterday.
As for Vic..... wether it should or shouldn't have been a red is really immaterial as in Clattenburghs eyes it was. Sorry to say when that guy refs a match for every decision he gets right, he will get two wrong.
It is interesting that teams playing Wet spam have lost the most players to a red card out of the whole league. Also take a guess who was one of the players involved most of the time?
The tackle was a clumsy one and needless no doubt but the theatrics of the player deserved a bloody Oscar. It is clear the contact was minimal.
The behaviour of the Wet spam players was unbelievable. However they do know how to influence a ref. This appealing to the ref and jostling him is creeping into the game more and more and really needs to be hilighted and stopped.
Good defending and a good team effort got us the points....well done the lads!

That might be a long list, FLT, but I'm not on it. There was a situation last season where we didn't crowd the ref after Mane was fouled by a player already on a yellow. A pundit noted the honesty of our players. Not a dissimilar situation to yesterday with Bertrand.

If that is our reputation then it's a reason for pride. But you have to wonder where honesty ends and naivety begins. We are told that referees come into a game with a view on certain players based on their reputation. Of course they do. They are human. But surely they should be aware of teams that pressure them to give cards with their over-reaction and mobbing of the ref.

Lazy punditry as ever. Yosh scored the only goal and ergo is MOTM. It's how they work. I struggled to call it. Classie was excellent, but so too was Virgil, Fonte, Bertrand. ...... You get the idea. Yet again the team was immense.

Wanyama had already conceded 4/5 fouls so if I was ref I probably would haVe had him on a yellow before the tackle. Byram was lucky in that he actually missed Berts leg with his stamp and ended up treading on his foot, and that we don't have a team that completely surrounds the ref for every decision of course

Just read Bilic's comments. How refreshingly honest. To congratulate the team on its defensive work and say that we deserved it was something I had to read twice to believe it. Nice one.

I like Bilic. He's honest, speaks well about football matters and doesn't care want he looks like on the touch line :)

Yes you are spot on with Vic. Immediately he commuted he foul I thought it was bad, however looking back I do wonder if Clattenburg had that in the back of his mind. He had told him a few minutes earlier "no more" and if that's the case, he got that wrong.

Sorry, Tom. I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it. If Clattenburg is the best Premier League ref we have, then God help us. He was awful last night. He was constantly complaining to Pelle about his backchat (after he was manhandled by Collins for the umpteenth time), yet he let Noble and his motley crew moan and bicker constantly. His theatrics to the camera every time he made a decision were laughable and when he paced out the 10 yards for a free kick against us (which wasn't a free kick, incidentally), he finished with a hope, skip and jump thus giving around 14 yards. Luckily Valencia did so well with the free, I think the Italian rugby coach will be thinking of signing him up as a place kicker for their next 6 Nations game.
He only booked Valencia for a 2 footed lunge on Romeu and he allowed the Wet Spam team to talk him into changing his mind from yellow to red when Payet (cheating little bastard) went down with a suspected broken leg only to be up and running around like a spring chicken 3 minutes later.
The final straw for me was his running across the pitch to complain to Ron about daring to bring a sub on injury time!
What an absolute disgrace as a ref.

But what a performance by the team and the support from the crowd was top notch too. Well done everyone. I hope we appeal Vic's red - it was a yellow, absolutely, but no way red.

He's too much up himself to be a decent ref. a really good ref should be virtually invisible. Our Mark likes to be centre of attention and therefore makes sure everyone sees him. Can't stand him and it's about time we got some decent refs. There must be some out there!

I thought he was generally ok. Not great but ok.

One thing he did that losses me off, but probably right to do it, was the watch tapping thing. It pissed me off because of consistency. We have watched several teams and West Ham every season, visit St Mary's and waste time continually.

Yesterday, because we were winning and down to 10 men, Clattenburg gave us zero leeway. He kept holding his arms above his head and tapping his watch. FFS do that all the time or none of the time.

It was more or less right in front of where I sit and his studs were right up, which, to me was a straight red. But then I remembered who the ref was :emoticon-0101-sadsm

In the first half Shane had his ankle clipped as well and the ref just ignored that. Shane should have rolled around screaming but then he'd have probably got booked.

Anyway enough of this red, so stoked for our performance and Maya the goal machine!

He loves the attention he gets,he wants to be a celebrity, he tried to claim once he likes to keep a low profile and not get noticed, then a reporter asked why he had a bright yellow Ferrari with CLATT 1 as his number plate.
