The Noveux brand of footie fans who treat the club like a trip to the opera don't help either, these people were not about during the days of Rioch and Hamilton etc, they started coming out of the woodwork during the Worthington years. We need fans who genuinely back the club not just make up the numbers.

There's probably a lot of truth in that but is it the fans or the stadia? Since the compulsory all-seater stadiums were imposed, the atmosphere at Carrow Road was subdued, unless the team performed well (long before the NW regime). Prior to that, the Barclay was lively every game.

U
In what proportion?

For me the players are at least 75% responsible, for whatever reason. This is the only reason I am not on the "sack AN" bandwagon just yet.

Ultimately it's down to the manager to plan tactics and motivate the players, if he can't do that then it's a massive problem. The players should have their own pride and passion to play for each other, the team the club and is the supporters. Everyday to blame in equal measure.

Yes, but only some players, we can't blame the defenders, it's the midfielders fault don't you know. Oh and of course you can't blame Martin for anything. Shame Ruddy wasn't playing we could blame him then. Clearly another CB wouldn't help, what we really need is another midfielder

What midfield? They all seem to hide in our defence, often see 8 across the back and we still conced goals.

What did AN have to say after the game?

His usual "we weren't good enough, we'll do all we can to put it right next game"?

Totally agree with you here, but massive corporate sponsorship deals, prize money, etc mean corporate attitudes to match.
The prawn baguette is far more important than the match, daarling

Shame, fella, big shame that, and exemplifies the neo-liberalism of footie these days. It's all about league tables (like the schools) and not about the the bit part spectators (or pupils)

I get the impression that a lot of people treat it as an afternoon out, rather than coming to support their team. There's a couple who sit in front of me who turn up with a rucksack each, they both have flask's of tea and mugs, and food in them. Both also have radios with earphones which they plug in as soon as they sit down. They don't cheer or clap or sing or anything, they just sit there listening to Radio Norfolk. That's why some parts of the ground are deathly silent.

This was the point I made after the Liverpool game when some posters were saying we needed more defensive midfielders to help out the defence. If all our midfielders are concentrating on defending then as a consequence we weaken our attack and encourage other teams to push on to us. At least in the Liverpool game our attack was more effective than it has been in any other of our recent games and in truth if our defenders had been half decent we would have won the game. My point was we should expect much more form our defensive players rather than overload the midfield with defensively minded players to compensate for our defensive inadequacies.

As I see it the trouble is

AN doesn't seem to know our best team

AN seems to pick his prefered 11 individuals for any game and then try and make them into a team

we never seem to get the balance of the team right

there seems to be far too much emphasis on picking a team to cope with the opposition, rather than playing our game

we have too many Championship standard players (we could probaly put out two different decent championship teams and still compete) and very few quality PL players.

and I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but still we need a better quality CB than Bennett / Martin / Bassong.

To right I have a bunch of planks in front of me in the jarold who never sing never show emotion
Are always late in and always late back at half time , sure there must be many more guys who could do with the tickets
I always go home with no voice it's my religion my escape I hate it when we are so bad and clueless it hurts

Not our best performance for sure, sadly. Thought we'd do better today.

Hoped to find something even more embarrassing to cheer me up, luckily, reading through this thread, i found it, so thanks for that. <laugh><ok>
