The league cup is a major trophy - There are 3 domestic trophies on offer each season and the league cup is definitely one of them. In some respects the league cup is harder to win than the FA cup as only the 96 league clubs take part, and the first round is seeded meaning that in theory more of the 'better' sides get through

I am sorry that my psychic powers have let me down tonight as I thought that your comment about Pompey being more successful meant that they had been generally more successful as a club in that period because you did not specifically mention the cup win! By the way it also means that in that time frame using your logic they more successful than Arsenal as well
