You obviously didn't watch BBC News 24 at 5 pm!

There was absolutely no news of Victor's signing a new contract.

Bloody hell, Vin. You written to the BBC or something? I made a point about of watching North West Tonight and it was full, yes full of good news. Some people got flooded (bad, but wait). Now they're not flooded (good). And Prince Harry came to see them (really good). So now they're all smiling and laughing and saying "Oh the flood was a great thing, because a nice boy from Wales came to see us." (Wonderful) Oh the power of television news to lighten our day.

PS Neither Prince Harry nor his brother know anything about Victor Whatsisname, allegedly. But their granny is going to make an announcement soon.

Can I just point out that Harry certainly isn't Welsh - there's a hell of a lot more German blood in him than Welsh (seeing as that total is zero!) You English lot can keep him as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think there's much in the "stalling" rumors. I mean, it's quite likely true but it's of no consequence. If I were Wanyama, I wouldn't sign the first offer put in front of me either, even if Saints were my first choice. Only smart to see what's out there. And to create a bidding war if you can. Even if Tottenham and Arsenal had zero interest whatsoever, it is probably still good to float that rumor out there, then wait and see if anything happens.

Think it would be lovely if Victor signed a new contract, but I also think it would be lovely if I was 8 stone. Victor may sign if we are his best offer, but why would he make that decision now rather than in the summer. To do that, our offer would have to be so good that he couldn't expect more from another club. I don't think we'd make that offer....he is good and a valuable part of our team, but not so good that he can't be replaced. He will have been made a good offer (at our level) and he won't have said no, but will wait and hope for a top side to come in for him...which I suspect won't happen. The best he can hope for is Spurs (and that assumes Poch hasn't buggered off by then).

    Unlikely. I'm a window cleaner.

I come from a strong science background and maths and statistics are now more of a hobby that I take quite seriously.

However, the subject I take deadly seriously is happiness. I gave a talk on the science of happiness the other week. I'm happier than I've ever been, not by accident but by working hard at it. Avoiding being scared by things that won't happen to me is a big happiness booster.

I do become scared at the thought of Victor not signing...

Oh heavens. Here I am spouting statistics and against all odds, you watch the one "good news" edition ever of North West Tonight!

I think it may be indelicate to discuss this young man's parentage. You'll have noticed that (for reasons too obscure for words) that both Harry and William carry the name "Wales" on their uniforms when in combat gear. Presumably Wettin was considered an open invitation for bullying.

Incidentally, I lived in North Wales for a few years and made a point of supporting Wales when they played footie at Wrexham, and am as delighted as any native born Welshman that Wales got into the Euros. And I never say I'm English, always British. Oh yes, and given the choice I'd expel the bloody lot of them!

How interesting! I actually do quite a lot of research on subjective well-being in later life. One of the secrets of course is low expectation not something us Saints fans are renowned for these days!

I'd recommend you read a book - 59 Seconds: Think a little, change a lot by Richard Wiseman. He's a professor of psychology who found that a great deal of advice given in self-help books is ineffective and indeed harmful. So, for example, visualising what you want to happen makes you less likely to do what it takes to get it, despite reams and reams of advice to do it.

Anyway, he starts off with happiness and gives you the evidence of what works then a week of exercises based on that evidence that will increase your happiness. It takes three minutes or so a day and definitely works.

There are loads of copies here for under £3*

    Vin

    * And once you've bought it, on top of the happiness advice is the science of bringing up kids, getting a job and making a first date work. How cheap is that?

[EDIT] Not sure if I posted the link or whether it was deleted.

With Claise, Romau and JP, and could include Reed, not to0 worried ether way, as long as Steven Davis signs a new contract, I am happy.
