Um no. I was referring to the fact that Venom does not like certsin songs sung by Celtic fans. And I do not need to wum thiss ignoramus who does not understand what hypocrisy is. Don't ask me, ask his fellow Celts.
Calling me an ignoramus when that post is riddled with basic mistakes **** sake they didn't give you the cane in school enough Uncle Albert.
My understanding is that tague, tarrier, fenian etc are all bigotted racist terms associated with being catholic and Irish. pretty offensive to most reasonable people. Hun on the other hand has none of those connotations and until a couple of yrs ago didnt seem to really bother anyone.Certainly not any rangers fans I knew. It seems to be causing offence now as rangers fans get pilloried in the press for being bigots, and rightly so,and they need to find something to fight back with and be offended about. When rangers fans stop spouting their foul songs at matches i will stop using it to wind people up but in the meantime i would love an " offended" rangers fan to explain to me why they think its sectarian and offensive and why they are stupid enough to equate a relatively innocuous term with tague, fenian, tarrier, pape etc.
Obviously not the offensive if Celtic fans sing "Pat McCourt's f****n army." But then you do realise that word orginally meant a group of Irish warriors, then it was a term for Irish republicans. Nothing to do with religion whatsoever. But words meanings change all the time. Does that make it better? It was once a term for the Nazis in WW2 but yet again the meaning has changed. In N.I the term hun refers to members of the unionist or protestant community. I don't know anyone that would label themselves a hun. If they get rightly pilloried in the press then you must also agree that Celtic's problems with inappropriate songs should also be highlighted. That's a great logic, you will continue to be sectarian because others are. That certainly helps the problem.
Hun was used in WW1 and used to describe germans who were pretty much only recently united as a country....being lots of principality or states.....the last time Germans wer that unified was under Atila The Hun......who rampaged across Europe.....much like rangers fans
The last time they were that unified. What in 1500 years? The reason the word Hun was used to describe the Germans was becasue Wilhelm once told his tropps to make an impact like Atilla the Hun had done on their enemy. The Allied forces used this as a propaganda tool to dehumanize the Germans.
The German states were as divided as the rest of europe It was the Prussians who created Germany Before that they were part of the Holy Roman Empire The most vicious German in history was Atila Atila sacked Spain....well bits of it under Roman rule So did rangers fans
Perfectly explains why Celtic fans call Rangers fans Huns. Nothing to do with religion. Everything to do with the way we see you based on your history.
