'Need to be loved' ? You don't think it's odd that the local BBC sports news on a Friday morning covers every club/game and sport in the area this week end except Hull City ? As for 'poxy' awards? Do you think the same radio station would have ignored it if Bruce and Hermandez had been voted the worst player and manager in the Championship ? The insecurity comes from whoever decides to promote non league football clubs and inflate the importance of rugby league at every opportunity over this areas biggest club. I'll give you an example shall I ? Last Monday 8.30 am sports news. Local radio. Hull City drawn away to the cup holders Arsenal in the FA Cup 5th Rd the night before.... Main news item? 'HKR will break their crowd record at Craven Park NEXT Sunday v Castleford...' A totally made up story. HTF do they know the crowd will be a record one eight days in advance when the game isn't all ticket ? But if you think it's alright. It must be.
It's not exactly worth getting pissed off about. People seem to have a bee in their bonnet about our coverage, but if you listen to talk sport, you're obviously some kind of knob anyway.
I didn't mention sports talk, which I don't listen too, I was on about the local BBC sports news bulletins.
Football is the biggest sport in the world. Hull City is currently the best in Yorkshire/Lincolnshire, in the biggest sport in the world. Bigger than Leeds, Bradford, the Sheffield clubs and anyone else you care to mention. However this does not sit well with some, especially in the wider media, who see us as an inconvenient outpost. The local media, especially the BBC radio, have a vested interest in inflating the level of local interest/enthusiasm in RL because without it they wouldn't have a job. Don't expect a reduction in the hype anytime soon- journalists' livelihoods depend upon it. Their concern is not promoting City as the top Yorkshire team or a PL club, but hyping up the 'rugby crazy town' myth. Which is a shame, because these are to quote the late David Bowie 'Golden Years' for City. We've never had it so good. Ever. These are the years Hull has waited for decades for, and it seems some of our supporters don't realise it or don't care.
After the game Wenger allegedly approached the ref,Lee Mason, and said: “It’s always the same with you.” Koeman overheard Wenger & butted in with a “No, it’s always the same with you. You had 10 chances to score and didn’t take any of them. Instead you take it out on them (the officials).” Good lad.
Why dont you get mummy to ring up radio humberside and give them a jolly good telling off. Then she can tuck you into bed,put your dummy back in and say there there. Like i said i listen to RH and city get more coverage than anybody else in the region.
Koeman has always been very high on my list of managers and human beings, but this transcends him to a new level, very well said and in a foreign language.
Really? It was just an opinion. Thought that's what forums were for? Maybe we should all just stick to recycling 'news now ' links. What do you reckon ?
Dear Julian Thanks for the PM. Adolescence can be real tough, you have our sympathies. Never mind, it doesn't last for ever. I'm sure that in a couple of years Fuel will accept you for that cage-dancing audition you've set your heart on. Chin up, young feller,
