Shamelessly stolen form the Spurs forum, here's what the league table would look like if Mark lawrenson's predictions had come true:

ARROWS & +/- DENOTE POSITION DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAWRO'S TABLE AND REAL TABLE
    POS
    TEAM P W D L PTS DIFF +/-
    1. Man City 24 19 4 1 61 +1
    2. Arsenal 24 17 7 0 58 +2
    3. Chelsea 24 16 6 2 54 +10
    4. Liverpool 24 13 11 0 50 +4
    5. West Brom 24 13 6 5 45 +9
    6. Man Utd 24 11 10 3 43 -1
    7. Southampton 24 13 3 8 42 0
    8. Tottenham 24 11 7 6 40 -5
    9. Crystal Palace 24 10 6 8 36 +3
    10. Everton 24 8 6 10 30 +1
    11. Newcastle 24 7 8 9 29 +7
    12. Norwich 24 8 2 14 26 +5
    13. Stoke 24 6 5 13 23 -3
    14. Swansea 24 4 11 9 23 +2
    15. Bournemouth 24 6 4 14 22 0
    16. Sunderland 24 5 7 12 22 +3
    17. Leicester 24 4 8 12 20 -16
    18. West Ham 24 3 6 15 15 -12
    19. Watford 24 2 6 16 12 -10
    20. Aston Villa 24 1 3 20 6 0

As you can guess the Spurs fans are not happy and I should imagine Lecister folk are looking for ways to stop their sides splitting...

How can he have West Brom so high up? They've been dire this season...

It is frightening how a supposed professional can get it so wrong and shows his bias towards the "big" clubs. I don't understand why he has kept tipping teams that are playing badly to win and equally, teams that are playing well to lose all the time. Even given his obvious prejudice. you are right though Toby - how the hell can he have WBA so high? Totally bizarre.

Be fair though- he's got Southampton, Bournemouth and Villa spot on. 3 out of 20, not bad eh?

Mark Lawrenson, you would think, would take an interest in current form when making his predictions - although he obviously doesn't.

In some respects I understand his bias towards the richer clubs; after all they have more money to buy the best players and in theory should dominate. That said, you cannot legislate for Leicester's fine form or ours or even for Newcastle being so poor, but after a few weeks you would think he would see what is going on and the expected results are not happening so adjust his predictions accordingly. Except this isn't happening and he is digging himself an idiots grave by persisting in marking some teams up and others down when clearly the opposite is happening.

Would we think the same if we were bottom and he kept predicting wins?

I'm with you Zen, it makes no sense that he does not learn from mistakes - ones like Leicester, Newcastle and WBA are so obvious. Clearly the man is a fool....but we knew that..

Hot news...Mark Lawrenson is not infallible, nor is he unbiased! Did anyone expect to discover anything different?

The problem is that the ancient leathery, unshaven dullard thinks that he is infallible and completely unbiased for Liverpool.

Just be glad that Preston and Brighton aren't in the PL.

I correctly predicted Leicester would be top at this stage.

Lawrenson is a twat. And a smug boring twat at that.

Our season so far according to Mr Lawrenson is as follows:
    Swansea City (H) draw
West Ham (H) win, he actually got the score right as well!
Leicester City (A) draw. Mr Lawrenson really hates both clubs.
    Aston Villa (A) draw
    Norwich City (H) win
    Sunderland (A) draw
    Manchester City (H) draw
    Swansea City (A) draw
All the other games were lost.

Wow, a whole 12 points! Not sure we were doing that badly on either of our previous efforts in this division?

The silly thing is we make our tips each week and we know which team is hot /cold .The problem is mark thinks us and lei will lose every week . Plus he thinks he can never be wrong . I think he would be less than mid table in our league . i know it will not be that easy but next year we will add him to our league to see how he does (and yes i know we will have to add a few non ELP tips)

For the italian or spanish matches we have perhaps a standard result of 2:0 in favour of the team highest in the league unless one of the top clubs is included, AC Milan, Internazionale, Napoli Lazio or Juventus plays in Italy or Atlético or Real Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia, because Mark Lawrenson perhaps will know the names. He must be excluded from the no more than two results the same rule.
