.... Do you have to get paid to give a toss?

The level of so-called customer service these days is shocking and I wonder if it is because most of the ****s and *****s I have to deal with are only on minimum wage.

Over at the United Yanks of America it is all about customer service even down to the lower end of the pay scales.

I took the ankle biters bowling the other day and the bredren behind the counter "served" three customers including me and didn't say a word during any of the transactions. Not a "how can I help?" or a "what would you like" and all of us had to check the till screen to see how much everything cost as the slouch couldn't even be ars*d to say "that comes to £3.50" and just held his hand out for the cash.

I wondered if it was a "I don't get paid enough to give a flying f*ck about you" thing.

If you were on minimum wage could you care less?
 
Our Glorious Site Owner, Heil Reid!, worked in KFC so he should be able to help, but unfortunately his appearance put the customers off their fried rat/pigeon/etc so they made him work in the storeroom :frown:

At a KFC in the States and one of the bredren opened the door for me and said good morning sir. I had to look round to see who he was talking to and realised it was me. You are lucky at the KFC in Shepherds Bush if they don't pick off their scabs and chuck it into your popcorn chicken. I've had the brotherhood walk past me in the queue and get served first, they pick out what bit if carcass they want and bitch and moan if they get the wrong piece.

You look at the acne-ridden yoot at the counter and know that he has long since ceased to give any sort of f*ck.

It really should not matter how much you are being paid or where you work, manners or common courtesy cost nothing, unfortunately the youth of today seem to be devoid of "Soft" skills and are unable to hold a conversation.

I basically said much the same thing albeit in different words. Personally I would have chinned the ignorant ****.

To be fair no one should ever enter a KFC...

The poor ****s that work there have every right to be miserable. You should worry if they're smiling, they've probably spunked in your chicken dippers...

Although some of this is definitely true and there are some dreadful people in these roles I do feel sorry for anyone who works in customer service these days. Not only is the customer most definitely not always right - quite often he or she is a horrible **** who should have been strangled at birth and it should be against the human rights of the poor sods serving them to have to be nice.

Then they should not be working in an customer service role Dan.

It's not too much to expect a "hello" or a "thank you", even from some spotty oik on minimum wage.

I don't disagree with that - just feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with some of the mutants you get these days.

You ought to see the ****ing creatures who hang about outside McDonalds on Argyll St <doh> They block the whole pavement dozens of the ****ers, spotty Goth mofos with hygiene issues.

One of them is going to get planted one night I swear to ****.
