Wonder if anyone else on here did it, the one hour survey! .... in previous years it has been quite reasonable weather, this year it was pants. I managed to see a few birds but not as many as during the days before and since. goldfinch's robin , coaltit, longtailed tit, blackbird, crows and gulls were amongst my hour period spots ( actually all within about 40 mins ). I am lucky in that I sit looking out the window, but unlucky they make computer screens so big now! But still have a fair bit of a view, into the 60ft sycamore, blossoming plum tree and top branch's of the cherry tree. And yes plum tree at least 6 weeks early .... reading some of the " more depressing, negative posts " it is quite cheering to see the activity going on outside. with spring around the corner it will be nice to have these diversions from so much expected D and N posts .... I have not seen a sparrow for month's !
I spent a nice lunchtime hour gazing at the feeders For me I had, Blue tit, Coal tit, Robin, Blackbird, Magpie, Rook, Jackdaw, Wood pigeon, Herring gull, and a common Buzzard way in the distance.
Or spent on people who know anything about how to run a football club effectively. It appears what we have is the complete opposite.
I knew that would happen so I'll get us back on track. yesterday I went down to the local beach and saw the following: Bald Eagles, Osprey, Great Blue Herons and many kinds of waterfowl, plus 3 Harbour Seals and 2 Sea Lions (none of which were flying at the time). Spotted in the far distance were several tits playing Football Manager, whilst crying and pulling out their hair. Red tits methinks but the atmosphere was rife with pollution and very difficult to make out clearly.
I walked with doggie along Burnham Beach this afternoon. Saw some red herrings (Ashton type). In the dunes there were rabbits, mesmerised by the bright lights. The dog caught one but I told her to throw it back because we don't have the cheap option on our dinner table. Only the best for us, unlike the Robins.
Go to Sainburys cidered, Perhaps they might have crow pie that you can donate to the Bristol City board meeting menu.
Crow pie! that's criminal, crows have an immense amount of common sense and talent and very determined attitudes.. in Scotland I see them regularly seeing off eagles with a tenacity that is sadly lacking around a certain part of BS3 ....
Around the south of Bristol there used to be regular sightings of the Greater Jay and also the Lesser Jay. The Greater Jay is no longer seen in this region and is believed to have moved to warmer northern climes, but the Lesser Jay has been spotted back in the area and efforts are being made to help it settle here once again.
Talking about fatty Jono again, still when you think about all those blue tits that are going to lose their nest soon it makes you wonder who's ground they will infest next..
