We won't go 3 at the back I hope! We play dreadful in midfield and upfront in the 3-5-2.. We don't have enough pace in midfield to play 3-5-2 and it eliminates too many of the players that have being doing well for us. The 3-5-2 basically eliminates your wingers (attacking threat) and attacking midfielder (attacking threat)... Meaning moreover than not we are just defending and I don't think elmo or robertson are good enough to do both, infact I think they both hate it!

3-5-2 is basically a false 5 in midfield and against Burnley that midfield will become 3 (a slow 3) as the full backs will constantly be tracking back. We beat Burnley at home with the current formation, stuff the awful 3-5-2

Anyone putting forward the notion of a back three is simply moronic. We haven't used three at the back in quite some time, and such a drastic change to the tactical system at this stage in such an important game would just be stupid. It also means going in with only a three man midfield which is suicide.

Agreed. I think Diamonde should get a place on the bench (in place of Aluko) to get him up to speed a bit more for what may well be a tough couple of months - especially as Powell is probably well off match fitness. Both may be needed if either Hernandez gets injured or needs resting in the easier games. Bring him on for Akpom on 60 minutes, depending on the scoreline, but especially if we're in the lead.

Hearing what the weather conditions are going to be like for the game Diame for me now has to be a NO NO.

Other than Hernandez this has to be 10 British players who don't mind Wind - Driving Rain - Hail storms etc.
    Dawson it is then. 3 - 5 - 2 or 3 - 4 - 3,, either works for me.

    WRONG. ^^^^^ this.

We have more than enough pace to go with 3 - 5 - 2.

However, the weather looks likely to play a part in this game if the reports are correct for Saturday @ Turf Moor.

I can see where your coming from! BUT I can't see SB dropping him because of the Wheather! Diame's due one of those big game big goals! Let's hope its tomorrow? Looking forward to this one.

So am I. But Bruce got his team selection slighty wrong last season at Turf Moor and for sure Dawson will be needed. Diame is a good weapon to have off the bench along with Akpom for example. How will Burnley handle 3 games in 8 days especially on a heavy pitch. Plan B and even C may well come into play.

Aluko has to have some game time after his performance at both ends against Bury. Give him at least 25 minutes if the mid-field tires. Made the penalty and covered back brilliantly as well as threatening on offense. Slippery conditions should suit his elusive running.

Too many in front of him! If he makes the bench it's because Maloney's injured.

Diame - Akpom and Aluko certainly would add something massive off the bench to a tiring Burnley team.

Our freshness after a 2 week layoff should be decisive. imo.

He may have looked good against a division 3 side, but that's not enough to guarantee any time. Same with Akpom.

Cheers, someone already suggested the Xscape and that is where we are going to meet up.

Bruce hasn't been bothered about changing things to suit the opposition before, but I think you're right. In this game it sends a signal to the players if the manager makes a lot of changes. It's like saying "I'm so worried about them that I'm changing a successful team." We need to send a message to Burnley that they need to worry about us.

Yes, like the Derby game where he made changes to 'cope' with them and we ended up with a mountain to climb after the first 15 or so minutes.
