Yep. Shame Evans is on it though. Coulthard rumoured to be another host along with Chris Harris. Shame the only woman on the show is going to be the stig according to reports.
On a Sunday the Times drops onto the doormat and the first of the supplements that goes in the waste basket unread is the motoring supplement. I have never watched Top Gear just as I have never watched Last of the Summer Wine. Watching very silly grown up men doing stupid things has never been of interest to me. The very lovely Mrs Godders says we have to buy a new car and thank goodness Clarkson and his childish crew will not be influencing her choice. I always thought that the little bits of Top Gear I saw when channel hoping should have been on CBBC. It always worried me that you had men behaving like children in very powerful cars and even more worrying is the people who thought they were clever and set out to imitate them.
Matt Leblanc is an excellent choice. Knows funny, knows cars. I may have let out a girlish scream of delight when I read about it.
My word, what a way to lose an hour of your day: http://datashine.org.uk/#table=QS50...d&layers=BTTT&zoom=14&lon=-1.4161&lat=50.9188 Here, for example is the proportion of people with no qualifications across Southampton: It's a census data visualisation tool. I've learned a great deal but I really had so much to do today as well... Vin
OK, but the BBC have to keep most of the entertainment that Clarkson, Hammond and May brought otherwise the new Top Gear will flop badly. Personally I think Le Blanc is a very good choice. Shame about Evans though.
It will be difficult & I think it will fail , but I yearn for a proper car review programme . I never liked Clarkson , but credit where it is due , lots did .
Channel 5, stopping in 2011 due to poor viewing figures but apparently if you want to watch it now it is on the History channel. People need to remember Top Gear also was getting rubbish until it was revamped into an entertainment programme which ended up selling to over 90 countries and earnt the BBC hundreds of millions pounds a year. My thoughts on the new Top Gear?.........it will probably fail because the chemistry of Clarkson, Hamnond, May will not be matched, Le Blanc is ok but Evans is a prize ********** ********* *********, and the magic will be gone.
Not arguing with any of that , as I said to Tom , I think it will fail , but I yearn for a proper car review programme .
Oh Gawd, it gets worse: http://commute.datashine.org.uk/#mo...soa=E02003577&zoom=10&lon=-1.4742&lat=50.8756 Now I'm sitting looking at the wall and wondering why more than 18 people commute to central Southampton from the Blackburn area. Vin
As you say, not surprising, but there seems to be a little bit of debate as to whether he said "I have no good news" and "I have news, and it's not good" - there's definitely a difference in the two implications. Possibly a bit lost in translation, but obviously not a great state of affairs.
Still think he would be dead if he wasn't a millionaire. His very expensive care is the only thing keeping him ok.
