I loved Jos. Never saw him without a smile on his face. He was capable and reliable then had a couple of games where he made mistakes. He suddenly became the crowd boo-boy, totally lost his confidence and it was all over. I can imagine how proud the people attacking him felt when he was dropped and sold. What a triumph.

If that sounds bitter, it is. I hate football fans sometimes.

However, this is a positive thread, so I'm up for 3-1, our traditional home score in in the past.

Massive game this (never thought I'd say that about Us v West Ham) because of that 5 point gap that currently separates us from EL placings. A win here and another against the Swans and we're right back on track to making the top 4 look nervously over their shoulder. This has been a mad year for the league and with the top order status quo in tatters this could be a real opportunity for us to take the next step forward.

West Ham have had a good season but being at home and on our run of form I'll go 2-0 with Tadic and VVD to score.

Tough game, I know this is the positive match thread but this won't be an easy match n think some maybe overconfident. They've only lost 5 games all season and playing away to a posession side will have them licking their lips....

Of course if we keep Payet quiet and our defence remains untouched then I fancy Charlie to prove his fitness n bag us the points :)

Payet is obviously the key man for them. We need Vic to have had 3 Shredded Wheat that morning.

As great a guy as he is, to say he had couple of games where he made mistakes is very generous, he was generally awful whenever he played in the PL. That's not to say he wasn't capable on his day, but there's a reason he couldn't get in a Norwich side with no CB's.

    I don't think we're disagreeing.

What I'm saying is that he was fine (not brilliant but fine) at the start of the season until a couple of bad games. Once the crowd was on his back, yes, the remainder were pretty awful, which I'm arguing was because the crowd was on his back every second.

Do West Ham play two up top? If they don't, I'd go for:

Forster, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Wanyama, Clasie, Davis, Mane, Pelle, Long.

He was solid in the Championship to be fair, but I don't think he ever really had a solid game in the PL. The fact that the crowd got onto him pretty quickly probably did destroy his confidence, as he went out on loan to Norwich (In the Championship at the time IIRC) and couldn't get a starting spot at CB even though they had no fit CB's.
