lets not take anything away from everton who are a really good .

but ... you would think maclaren would of stressed to his players ..

you aint going to have much time on the ball you have to be prepared to play as a team , so support each other
they play at a very fast tempo ..get numbers round you to squeeze the game quickly to get the ball ..

just simple things that are so easy to see , when you watch epl teams week in week out .

seen nothing of this at all done here no homework , no game plan just pure lazy crap .

at times last night ..perez was dwelling on the ball , now that is no good against everton ..basicly no shout from team mates or just no support all the time ( prob this as lazy was the best way to describe us last night

anyway the man is so far out of his depth as a manager ..

Once Aarons came on we raped you down that flank, he looked very poor defensively.

The lad who got sent off also looked absolute beans.

Saivet was doing a decent job and then he hooked him. Once he went your back line was exposed and Barkley was given space and time in that central area.

Townsend is a good player imo, and he'll give you a cracking outlet ball once he settles in.

Shelvey is also a good signing imo, but always looks like he's about to lose it.

Despite our overall dominance last night had Mitrovic took that golden chance he had, the game could have turned on it's head. Therein lies your major issue imo. He seems more interested in picking fights than hitting the back of the onion bag. Your striking options don't look great, maybe Doumbia might alter that?

The result was not 'harsh'. If anything, it was harsh on Everton who should have scored more. I am really starting to get sick and tired of hearing that useless prick open his gob. It's a broken record.

Everton were the better side and should have won 10-0.

Agreed however by the time Mitro had that chance, you should have been a good number of goals clear anyway. You deserved the win and hopefully you guys can kick on now. You have some cracking players in that team and you should comfortably be top 6. Possibly higher.

Everton should have won 10-0. For McClaren to say that the scoreline was 'harsh' is just laughable and denying what was clear to everyone that watched that game.

Laughable beyond belief. No shame in losing to Everton. That being said, they probably wish they could play us every week <laugh>

I like Everton's players. I'm not so sure they are a brilliant side. Did we just make them look brilliant? That win was their first at home since November. It moved them up to 11th. I'd have to see if more games to see if they have truly turned the corner or have just had a good win against a really poor side to be honest. You've got to remember after 24 games having conceded 34 goals, you're not really pulling up trees. I think I have heard plenty groans from their fans of late.

I think their issue is Martinez. As brilliant as he may be going forward, he has always been suspect with regards to the defence. He needs to either bring someone specialist defensive coach in or figure it out fast. They did look disorganised at the back for sure. Sadly, despite how poor it may or may not be, ours is wayyyyy behind.

    A fair point mate.

Barring the Swansea game we've been playing well, and going forward we've been great. Unfortunately, we've been ****e at the back and have given away soft goals and gifted draws to the opposition. A combination of poor drilling, individual mistakes a ****ing awful keeper - Howard.

Note he wasn't playing last night and Robles kept his 2nd clean sheet on the spin.

Newcastle won't go down , and Shelvey will come good if used properly .
Getting behind your team instead of in it's face won't hurt .

There was a brilliant point made above that, for me, sums up just how poor McClaren was - the removal of Henri Saivet, the ONLY player capable of restricting their best player, Ross Barkley. Once Saivet disappeared, nobody picked up that space and we were always going to lose. I don't see how Steve can moan at the players - in his tactical masterstroke he single-handedly removed any chance we had of containing Everton enough to get the draw. Of course heads will drop when you make bafflingly bad decisions.

Final straw for me; I was always inclined to think Steve was dealt a bad hand, but seriously how is a losing mentality this endemic? Leicester nearly went down a year ago and are now Premier League Champions elect. They do not have the best manager in World football. They certainly don't have the best squad. And were worse than us for large parts of last season.

We are a fck up of a club and all that's happening now is the decisions Ashley has made on Charnley, on allowing the tea boy to pick a disgracefully poor manager, are coming home to roost.

Yep agree with both. The players are there. The one I worry is Stones. He is very highly rated and on the ball he is a great watch. The problem I see is that he doesn't seem to have that instinct of sensing danger and snuffing it out early. Clever forward players are taking advantage of this. Obviously the coaching helps but some of it has to come from within, that is where I worry about him - he doesn't have a defenders mentality. Certainly though Martinez can get a team playing and attacking but lacks defensively. He seems quite stubborn though, so not sure if he would be amenable to getting someone in to help him defend. I he doesn't do something he'll waste the best set of Everton players I can remember in a long while. Some of the talent is fantastic - Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Barkley, Barry, Deufoluo, Lukaku, Stones, Funes Mori, McCarthy, Lennon, Cleverley, Miralles - thats a fair old whack of talent to play with. The you have the new lad Niasse too. A lot of those lads would get into the top 4-6 sides.

Stones is still a kid in CB terms - 21. He's had too much smoke blown up his arse for a lad so young. A £50m CB, best of his generation etc etc etc.
He's a great footballer, and he is a cracking defender, but he needs to be told that he's a defender first and a footballer second! He dicks about too much at times, and takes unnecessary risks.

Martinez praises him for it though, lol.

I've been saying all season that he needs to bring in a defensive coach. It's no co-incidence that since Stubbs went to Scotland we've gone downhill defensively. It's patently not Martinez strength and he needs to accept that fact, and bring in someone who is - that simple really. You're also right about his stubbornness - sticking with the hapless Howard for so long is a prime example. He's been stinking the place out for over a year, and yet he insisted he was his 'No.1'. I'm hoping that penny has finally dropped, as he appeared to have picked up a very conveniently timed 'injury' this week.

You're bang on with your last point. He's under performed with that squad so far, no question, and the only real hope we had of retaining the likes of Stones and Lukaku this summer was achieving CL football for next season (or being within touching distance of it). He's blown that opportunity, and we now face the prospect of seeing that side broken up and having to re-build again (albeit we'll have a massive budget to play with)
