Football self appointed professors or experts are excused, I am an older member but I have never known so much pissing about on the appointment of a new manager or so called head coach, we got rid of Cotterill for the so called rumours we are not allowed to mention but we all know about, so we must have had a plan B from our 'El Supremos'. We have employed a new whiz kid so what's the problem? We don't need to employ old goats like Warnock or Redknapp, we don't need to cut costs or experiment with the likes of Johnston Jnr or Pemberton, If they want to splash the cash get in Moyes or Pearson, there are good experienced candidates around like Hoddle or Curbishley. Why all the Phaffing and pissing about? What is taking our so called suits so long? why doesn't someone give them a swift kick up the proverbial and tell them to get off their fat asses and pull their bleeding fingers out, we are all waiting for Gods sake...
The sad thing is that they sacked Steve Cotterill with no real plan about who to replace him The timing was incredibly bad - halfway through a transfer window where we were desperate to recruit permanent signings - not many players will sign for a club with no manager This is just indicative of the poor management of our club
Clueless idiots to a man who know **** all about football or customer service. No plan A, let alone a plan B as per usual. I have no faith, and even less respect for any of them.
Perhaps both Pearson and Moyes are waiting to see if we stay up first. Wouldn't blame them. They can't bring in any players now, would take a few weeks for things to click and by then it could be to late. I'm sure they won't want "relegated from championship with Bristol City" on their cvs. It's obvious we're sticking with Pembo for now. In the summer time or perhaps when we've been confirmed as safe, we'll then appoint a big name for the following season.
I think that this is about it in a nutshell - the one's that everyone is screaming for wont' commit yet whilst the one's we definitely don't want are queuing up round the block... That said, the club cannot be accused of doing nothing. 5 decent and mostly experienced players at this level in during the window with a striker (or 2) to follow next week gives us a very decent chance of survival and if we do, we can then "throw the money" at our targets with championship credentials in the bag..
Sorry Prem but the running order for all of this self inflicted pain and chaos is so far out of kilter and away from what I'd consider to be normal behaviour that it's untrue.
No accusations about the club doing nothing, we had no problem with putting another suit in place on the admin side, we have added to our playing staff with out doubt although very late in the day, we have not hesitated in placing adds for vacancies in our training areas but as usual we are bumbling around appointing a manager or coach which is the most important position on the playing side of our club. We sack a manager for what ever dubious reason right in the middle of the January window without a plan B, our timing is appalling, our planning is non existent, we are like a rudderless ship and we are being led by a number 2 again and we all know where that has lead us several times before. All that I'm saying is pull your fingers out suits, you are being paid enough, get off your fat asses and get on with the job, we are running out of time.
Come on Wiz how do you know we are bumbling about? There could be a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Because they are not giving hourly press updates with fanfares and fireworks, people think that there is nothing going on. I'm sure they are people working on it as we speak. Of course I could be wrong and we are bumbling but that's the point nobody knows for certain. Its all guesswork on our part.
More news today, still justifying themselves, talk about dads army.. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTOL-CITY/story-28670850-detail/story.html
It looks like they are ruling out big name signings and going for someone good at developing the kids. The only problem with that is that if they were that good why aren't they currently in a job?
Yeah this is definitely seeming very underwhelming. What was initial excitement (after the shock) it's now turning into just praying we pick the best of a bad bunch. Dreams of Moyes and Pearson seem miles away now. I always defend the club and the board, on the whole I think they do a good job, but this is getting a bit ridiculous now. Using the transfer window as an excuse is ridiculous, how many hours a day do these guys work?
WE CANT COMMENT ON WHY as we do not know why ...all we have is results ... the spat with bad language ... and the negativity of comments made about we do not have a snowballs hope in signing/ none lined up / etc ..the truth may well not be known as for the whole debacle.
Less than we do I'll wager.... In terms of defending the club, it gets to a point after many years of virtually the same old pathetic story and mistakes being made time after time when it becomes indefensible.
More waffle, we have honestly heard all before, just bloody get on with it.. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/well-reassess-options-pemberton-2938317.aspx
That is not an excuse for failing to explain what the latest long term strategy is, after the last long term strategy failed, after the one eighteen months before the five pillars/points of interest ...!! The structure of the club has changed again beyond the Manager, and this has not been clearly articulated why, It could all be made up as they "bumble" along,
It could all be made up as they "bumble" along And I'll wager it is. Every day in BS3 must be like Day 1
NO every day at BS3 is yesterday thinking about tomorrow .... when midnight comes its right ..... lets start from yesterday ...
Just arose for my morning coffee and read this thread and the replies and thought what a good way to start the day with my usual wake up moan. Reading between the lines on the article I failed to see some key words but saw lots of the usual waffle and lame excuses as to why we don't have a new manager. If I were a betting man I would be tempted to say we haven't even bothered to contact some of the supposed front runners, but rather we are still working on some of the cheaper options. When I read the comments by Ashton I almost thought I was hearing Colin Sexstone all over again, but at least it was a comfort zone for me knowing that the porkies and bullshit lives on long after his departure. To put the icing on the cake Pemberton said we now have to reassess our transfer targets and I wonder whether we actually had any that were willing to come to Bristol City, or were they figments of someone's imagination? Many positive key words or phrases were missing from the statements which is not surprising I suppose because that always seems to be the way we do business. I agree that we brought in new players and that in itself was a move that we needed and yet it almost appeared as a convenient smoke screen for the failings in other departments. If there was a real plan in place then SC would have been dismissed in late November to allow a chance for the right manager to be hired in time for the recent transfer window and to put their individual stamp on the team overall. As you say jgf2 we will never know why our team constantly fails to achieve or even create a positive aura to attract the right people to take us to the next level. Our leadership has just added another level of management ,and I'm not quite sure why to be honest, but I don't necessarily believe it will add anything to our flavour. Isn't it about time we not only heard but saw the results of all this hype rather than the follow up excuses of which I for one am getting fed up with and why is it we have this seeming inability to progress in the way we should? I am almost at the point of exasperation and when I give up moaning I can't think how I will fill my days unless it's with praise for the amazing progress of Bristol City, but then again.
