Since FSG arrived, we've signed forty-five players and spent just over £400m. I listed sixteen players there and you said the spend was around £200m. So roughly 50% of the budget on 35.5% of deals.
Yup generally. Couple of decend ones in Clyne, Studge and Couts. Ings might be okay and Gomez. Ironic its the ones we didn't spend too much on that have done okay. Its the Lovren's, Sakho's, Lallana's, Benteke's, Downings, Adam's and Carroll's which have been very costly mistakes. The fact Adam ever became a Liverpool player still bemuses me. He is okay. But not here.
If the TC was replaced by a knowledgeable DOF like Hitzfeld, we'll have less big money flops and New players which cost a lot less than in the EPL.
Will it upset you if I point out you missed Balotelli? And Firmino although he could come good yet (I don't agree on Sakho btw)
FFS, Bron reckons Benteke could be as good as Leondowski (sp): http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/former-liverpool-boss-brendan-rodgers-7299404 Are we going to get him a motobility scooter?
I think is very clear that irrespective of the original question change is badly needed now. Root and branch to support the new coaching staff. It's simply not good enough at the chairman on down and Klopp I hope is the first good hire they've made since they took over imo.
Oh god how can I miss Balotelli?! Agreed on Firmino but we did pay top dollar. Sakho may eventually be okay but for all his good play he makes costly mistakes. Bit like Skrts in that sense.
Leicester this season and us in 2013/14 are proof that you can challenge for the top of the table if you have 3 players peforming at a #worldclass level (Suarez Sturridge Coutinho, Vardy Mahrez Kanté) and the rest of the squad is decent. Contrary to the crying on the board we don't need to replace our entire squad, we just need those 3 players performing consistently well. Potentially we already have them if Sturridge gets fit and Coutinho and Firmino find their form in the right system. But we'll have money to spend anyway to make it easier.
Only when returning from injury. Once he's got two or three games under his belt he is a really good player imo
I don't think we will get relegated. What is it we need, 6 more points for safety? Should be achievable if we can find our way to the back of the net and if the players listen to Klopp's gripes. So far, I don't think the message has got through. The fact is though that the vast majority of Liverpool fans are, in the main, an unforgiving lot because of so many years of wilderness. If we finish in the middle or the bottom half of the table this season they'll become vocal wanting answers; and if we don't spend on quality in the summer there'll be murder. Some cheek charging £70 a ticket to watch ****e week in week out.
I have said very similar in my earlier post. I said two instead of three top players and decent supporting players. So there is no need for the budget to be spread widely. If we have let's say £60m, we shouldn't go and get 5-6 players at the £10m-12m level. Thats a recipe for staying average. We ought to get 1 or 2 top level players at £30m - £60m. And of course the club must be prepared to pay the higher wages. Top level players follow the CL but it is fairly clear that some will follow the wages.
If Klopp is really the man who the management has recruited to get us to the top, then they have to support him with the money to recruit his players. He is not a miracle worker (which I warned when he was recruited) and cannot turn lead into gold.
