Dong Energy are apparently going to build the world's largest windfarm off the coast of Hornsea. It should meet the electricity demands of more than one million homes in Britain. The 1.2-gigawatt wind farm will be 75 miles off the Yorkshire coast and will be 5 times the size of the city of Hull. It should be fully commissioned by 2020. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
For me that is absolutely brilliant news! This must be aswell as the one in the Irish Sea which was meant to be the biggest in the world.
Ironically, many of the turbines will actually be manufactured elsewhere, as the Siemens plant in Hull is already booked up building stuff for other sites that are already in work (some will be made though).
