So it's 5 wins, 5 draws minimum then. Win at Norwich and the Scum and its possible…...

that would be 39 points. Still think it will be 40 minimum. Unless a couple of rivals lose the capability of winning completely. Only Villa has fit that category. Even we have produced 5 wins in the last 15 and look at us. League is so open this year. Bad news for the poorer teams like us. It's possible. Not holding my breath though.

In addition to winning many many games that on paper could easily go either way.

Just having a look at the fixtures teams have left, Bournemouth could go on a bad run and get sucked down, possibly Norwich but both sides have enough winnable fixtures to get to 40 points. I reckon it could take 40+ this season, with top sides dropping so many to the lower sides over the course of the season.

Newcastle and Sunderland have one hell of a job to get to 40+ points, I doubt both teams will do it, if either.

There's no way 36/37 points will get you safe this season, not a chance.

I'd love to see Palace get sucked into it, they're the worst team in the league at the minute and Pardew is showing his true colours as a manager now, drowning as per usual, but I reckon they've got enough fixtures to get them safe, unless something off the pitch makes them implode.

I think they've got too many points now unfortunately mate.

If they lose another 2/3 games now (They've lost 5 on the bounce in the league now) I can see them sacking that nugget and scraping over the line with the new manager effect.

    Swansea (A)
    Watford (H)
    West Brom (A)
    Sunderland (A)
    Liverpool (H)
    United (A)
    Leicester (H)
    West Ham (A)

That's their next 8 fixtures, bearing in mind they've just lost at home to Bournemouth it's hard to see where their next win is coming from.

Their current form is ****ing woeful like.

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html

I can't see them getting a point from any of those games except maybe Swansea & us.

Watford at home is their best chance I reckon, they're not too great form-wise either, few clubs starting to take their foot off the gas a bit early I think.

Have to say - before Christmas I though 36 would keep you up - now I agree completely with every word you say there terry! Unfortunately!

See your lot have found form just in time to play us! Hopefully it'll be a win for you on Saturday then a loss next weekend then win the rest of your games - I'd be happy with that

If it meant we win every other game I'd take a defeat at your place for sure!

Last night we showed what we're capable of, I think the boys are showing some fight in support of LVG, maybe too little too late.

Stamford Bridge next for us, that'll define the rest of our season I reckon, a 0-0 and we'll fall back into old habits.

I don;t like LVG to be honest with you - think the bloke is an idiot - happy to talk to anyone when you win but not interested in questions when you lose - like a huffy schoolboy! But that said, always have had a soft spot for united as I watched you lot back in the 80's and early 90's quite a bit when my best mate and his parents used to take me if Sunderland were away when united were at home! So, for that reason, I'd like to see you win your games!

FWIW - LVG is nowhere near as bad as Klopp - the BBC reporter said "Do you wish you had Vardy in your side" and he threw a strop and threatened to walk away from the interview! I guess he didn;t wander over to the Liverpool fans with his team to bow in front of them after last night's game!!

To be fair to Van Gaal, a lot of managers throw strops after losing, only Steve McClaren stands and smiles the whole time after his team have been beat. The media and Van Gaal do not get along at all, he can't stand them even when we win games. He'll continue to get my vocal support inside the stadium every match day whilst he is our gaffer, although I don't think he's going to take us anywhere this season or next.

I'll support him, just like I support our scouse captain, the amount of people who've told me this season that he's finished (United fans included) is ridiculous, he's on 14 (1 in 2 strike rate) this season for United and scored 4 for England. 18 is not bad for some fat waster who's finished at the beginning of February is it?

Crystal Palace remind me of a some football team..... Can't quite think who though <laugh>.

Expect them to get sucked in. My bold prediction is both Newcastle and Sunderland finish above them.

Very true mate - same as me - I'll support whoever is in charge - only once in the last 30 years have I shouted for a gaffer to be sacked and that was the 0-4 home defeat to Villa last season - and Poyet was sacked shortly after that - most of our fans don't remember the third division in 1987/88 - I went to every home and away game that season with the parents. I remember vividly the season before that when we were relegated to the third division yet most say "this is the worst we've ever been" - it certainly isn't. Short memories or short time following the club! Either way - they always get my support

    That's a bold prediction alright!

I reckon they'll sack him if needs be, their owner's not like yours who'll just keep him no matter how bad it gets. Although that would depend on who they fetch in to replace him.

How do you reckon you'll get on tonight mate? Just had a quick look for a flutter, not made my mind up yet, Everton have only won one of their last 6 home games and that was against Villa and one of their last 6 away (Newcastle). In fact, they've only beaten Sunderland, Villa and Chelsea all season at home. I'm not sure I'll be backing them to win.

Lukaku and Deulofeu put the fear of god into teams but they just don't seem to be doing very well, especially for a team with a "£50m defender" at the back.
