It says on ye olde rumour site that WFC and FC Kaiserslautern are to sign a development deal? Anybody think this has a shred of truth in it and what do you think about it, good/bad?
Development of what one wonders The sqads, the facilities, the match day beer & sausages, Anglo - Teutonic relationships..................
Could it be someone taking the mickey due to our history with them? http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&so...i8GqCw&usg=AFQjCNFjjhpZKGEoX2witMKYFUVCFF-pJg
But remember the return fixture at the vic when we thumped em at the vic to progress in the European cup!!! Remember coming out of that one and I'm sure it was the night the sheffield was sunk off the falklands.
I remember the game out at Kaiserslautern. Team was full of youngsters and gave as good as they got for most of the match against a top Bundeslige outfit. Names like Paul Franklin, Charlie Palmer, Richard Jobson and Jimmy Gilligan hardly trip off the tongue now - but played a great part in one of the legendary episodes in our history. Jimmy Gilligan (the Lion of Kaiserslautern) got an equaliser (a vital away goal as it happened) and they only punished us 3-1 when our lads tired. And let us not forget Ian Richardson who got 2 in the return leg at Vicarage Road, one of only 10 or so appearances for us - last seen in Tesco's Watford stacking shelves I believe!
Sorry guys, it's totally false. I got fed up of reading Marvin is off here or Troy is going there so I made my own rumour up. Took a while for it to be commented on, I thought you'd see it for what it was and leave well alone.
Well I did not start supporting WFC till the late 80's as in 89-90, so well before my time. A late developer into the Waford Way
No shame to that - we all have to start sometime. It's as much for you PSH (and others) that us old 'uns post these anecdotes and memories of days past. We try to put today's trials & tribulations into some sort of context. Course it could be that we're just wallowing in nostalgia........
I have been known to get called a dinosaur at work as I have been known to swing the old lantern over a sandbag and tell the kids about the pranks and japes I used to get upto when I joined up. They just don't know how to have fun these days, all to scared of upsetting someone or getting in the sh1t!
I am sure you do mate, I am a member of the UKMAMS OBA (old boys association) mainly for the really old boys but nowadays I fit right in. I remember when I joined up my Cpl was 36, being only 17 I thought he was ancient. God knows what they think of a 49 year old FS
