I think it will depend on his fitness - he looked a yard down on pace in South Africa, but that may have been the effects of the 2 injuries (side in our summer and the calf injury sustained over there)

Cricinfo Hawkeye had him down as 83.4 - 87.0 and Broad 83.1 - 88.3 so there's not much difference. It wasn't as if he was bowling at 78/80mph. I think his fitness will depend of bowling lots of overs not less.

    For instance
    64 overs before WI - 17 wickets at 18.00

No cricket at all for 3 weeks before New Zealand 6 wickets at 43.00
No cricket at all for 5 weeks before Ashes first two Tests 3 for 71.00

74 overs with Lancs + 12 in warm up in Pakistan 13 wickets at 15.61

2 months no cricket except 5 overs in SA - 7 wickets at 43.00

Wasn't helped by the fact there was little swing in SA as well

Alastair Cook's 16 runs in the first innings in Leeds leaves him on 9,980 test runs.
Sri Lanka's dismal 91 and now following-on means he may have to wait until the 2nd test at Durham to reach the milestone
