Our usual difficulty with high balls seems to be increased by the wind. That was silly. Don't want to let them back into this one.
2-0 HT. Big boos from the crowd after a dominant first half. Threatened to blow them away early on, then quietly outplayed them for virtually all of that. More and better possession, much more of a threat in front of goal and a good work rate. Need to stay sharp and avoid sloppy play in the second half, though. Seemed to be creeping in.
We were perhaps a little lucky to get away with that one late on after the pen had been given for a not too dissimilar incident earlier in the half. That said it looked like Wimmer got the ball with his head/neck area and also knocked his man whereas I don't think Bassong got near the ball on his Ali challenge. If we keep our heads and don't get sloppy this is there for us, really impressive first half. Wimmer and Toby need to settle down a bit still but that is promising.
No disrespect meant to Norwich, but these are the kind of games that we ought to be winning convincingly, if we are to be taken seriously as title contenders.
"Need to stay sharp and avoid sloppy play in the second half, though. Seemed to be creeping in." That is where you need an on-pitch leader cajoling the troops whenever that happens.
I don't think Norwich will be that poor in the second half but hopefully we can move up a couple of gears as this has been almost inadvertent dominance by us so far. Hard not to be complacent in such a game concentration required. Thanks for the superb link @Inda
I recall they were worse than awful against Arsenal in the first half. Blew them away in the second. It's not done yet.
For those keeping score, Alli has now scored as many Premier League goals since August 2015 as Jack Wheelchair has since 2008.
