I think this guy is going to do well. He can finish and we now have the guile to provide him with chances. He has something to prove, and if it was between getting him and getting nothing like we usually would when we can't get the number 1 target, I know which I'd prefer. I see this as progress.
He'll be hungry to prove himself. The permanent move carrot dangled in front of him is incentive enough for him to give 100%. I think he is suited to the PL with the right attributes. If he shows the same sort of goalscoring knack as he has done in the past then we have signed some player and PL defences will be ****ting themselves.
All i know was doumbia was a goalmachine in switzerland. He would score for him. Of course the defenders were a joke but if he can be anything like that for us, he will score 5 goals in his first 6 games.
I think i recall people putting rivierre in their dream team when he signed. In otherwords people always make asumptions but not me! Lets face it hes more likley to struggle than suceed
Sure. Could be Luuk De Jong all over again, who by the way has been banging them in for PSV like you wouldn't believe. But I felt I could shoot harder than him.
Not necessarily. I said when we were linked with Riviere that it was a mistake. He wasn't good enough for Monaco so it's ridiculous that he was considered good enough for us.
De Jong just shows what a decent manager can do. He was never fully fit with us. Not in a million years. Add to that he was [when played] up front alone and expected to create his own chances in one of Pardew's dogshit teams.
The ironic thing is that LDG would be just about the ideal strike partner for Mitro. As far as Doumbia goes, let's give him our full backing and give him every possibility/confidence to bang those goals in!
Indeed time will tell. He is the right type for us though with pace and an ability to put the ball in the net. We haven't really got that.
Doumbia looks like a feel good player, I think he'll do well if the next few games go our way, if not, he'll probably just fade into oblivion.
To be fair, he sounds like the sort of player you usually rain hatred down upon - unprofessional, hates training, fragile temperament, injury prone.
