Yes I believe this to be true maclad, apparently Rad Lancs announced this news a short time ago. Everton are in the States at the moment but on their return Lonners will join them, ONCE a fee has been agreed. I am not sure if the player's terms have been agreed or not but I dont think there will be any problem with the fee or the player's terms. Assuming all this news to be correct then it will bring to an end to this unsavoury saga that has by all accounts been preventing new signings coming in. I am happy for Lonners and for PNE, let's hope everything goes according to plan..
Lets hope it's sorted out. Mills the full back has been released however Cooper has been kept on for now
Never saw Mills or Cooper play but they both seemed to do reasonably well in their games according to reports etc. I suspect that Cooper is being kept for now but not because of his leftback expertise but more as cover in case Treacy had to leave PNE. PB has said that he has players in mind for the leftback position so maybe once Lonners has gone it will free up a space for wages for new signings....
Looks like PNE have brought another player in on trial, and not a keeper this time. See link below for all relevant info. http://www.facebook.com/notes/premi...north-end-in-england-on-trial/245402082150167 Could prove to be an interesting one.
I note that nothing official has been said regarding the future of Mills/Cooper/McLean. PB has given the impression that he is still looking for a left back which would rule both Mills and Cooper out of any signing for PNE. McLean however is still alive and kicking and played again today against Rovers. Reports from today's game indicate that McLean did well again but the clock is ticking now and PB is going to have to make a decision one way or the other.
Morning maclad. Yes this most prolonged and bizzare saga re Lonners leaving, finally looks like it is coming to it's conclusion.....Of course we have heard this before on two or three occasions, so it is not set in stone just yet but it would seem the end is nigh for Lonners and his PNE career. We will see if this latest chapter in the saga turns out to be the last one..
afternoon fellow northenders. well it looks like the lonners saga has finally come to an end with his imminent switch across to yorkshire. I for 1 will be sad to see a local lad leave who to be fair is a very strong goalkeeper on his day. I doubt that many of us know the real truth behind this saga so if it is just down to finance than fair enough, however i think AL would have done a great job this season with the experienced CC in front of him and Mclean who from what ive seen looks very capable at our level. On an incoming front id like to see the experienced roy carroll between the sticks against colchester, his experience of champs lge football and premiership football with man u can only be of benefit to our young backline, connor, bailey an devine and his distribution and management on the pitch for me is a great starting point from which to build. thoughts?
Afternoon Steve... Lonners has been a loyal clubman for PNE as you might expect from a local born Prestonian. He has also proved himself to be a very good keeper at Championship level with the potential to play in the Prem. He is not perfect and has his shortcomings as have most players, but overall his other qualities do compensate for his lack of command of the 6 yard box. Suffered last season as a result of DF's tactics and having to play behind a hesitant and mistake riddled defence in front of him. This resulted in his loss of confidence etc, and his eventual being dropped from the team. It's quite amazing how many Northenders turned on Lonners which seems to be the norm with most local born players when the team struggles, I have seen the same thing happen over the years and it is difficult to understand. As per usual we the supporters never know what goes on behind the scenes at Deepdale, but are left to speculate and that produces all kinds of rumours etc. Money (wages) would seem to be the main reason why PNE have to let Lonners move on and this saga re Lonners having to move on does leave a bitter taste in the mouth whatever the truth is. I wish him well and would love to see him doing well at Leeds once he has recovered his confidence which I am sure he will. Carroll is a very experienced keeper who is very vocal on the field and this would help the back four enormously particularly the younger players who might be brought into the team. It is anyone's guess who PB decides to go for with Turner seeming to be waiting in the wings for Lonners departure. I wouldn't mind Carroll being signed at all and he would bring his organising of a defence abilities for the team. From reports McLean has done well enough during his trial games and he might just get a PNE contract, but it is difficult to second guess what PB has in mind. Cooper and Mills have also done ok but everything has gone quiet on that front, and it looks like PB has somebody else in mind for the LB position.
Leeds fan in peace. Lonners will be announced in the next couple of hours apparently in a deal thought to be worth 200K. It's taken 3 weeks because his initial wage demands were deemed too high (a common occurance with Mr Bates) but with Fulham wanting a 24h recall clause on a Stockdale loan, we have revived our interest. Not sure he will be better than Schmeichel tbh but havn't seen much of Lonergan time will tell. All the best and hope you get back to the championship soon. I miss our comedy scorelines
AWOL you have got a decent keeper beware of shots from over 30 yards he does tend to struggle with them. Look after him.
Well it's official now.....see link below. All the best Lonners, you will probably benifit from the change of clubs and it was maybe time for you to move on. Best of luck and success in the future... http://www.pnefc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10362~2401416,00.html
Turner to sign tomorrow also signing Jordan and Linganzi 6 month loan deal. German keeper not brilliant according to reports
Sound's like the vacant goalkeeping and leftback position are about to be filled maclad. Linganzi impressed last season during his short lived loan and might have helped keep us in the championship but for his injury, would be well worth having him on loan and Daley having done well tonight might be worth a shout as well. Things are beginning to look more positive from what you say...
