I never said it was easy. In fact I clearly said he is obviously a very good manager. My argument is, the title of best manager in the world is questionable at the very least because of the situation in which he's achieved those fates. If he turns Man City, a club not currently in the worlds top three (arguably not even top ten atm), into a power house then he'll deserve that tag.
Completely missed my point mate!! I was saying that they are bitter purely due to him not signing for them, when they both clearly need a manager. Worried about it? Not really. We simply have to do our job the best we can and see what is achievable.
I've said for a while that City were a manager away from being a huge club, I though that Pellegrini was it though so I was wrong there. If Pep is funded and he certainly will be he'll build a solid team that'll dominate this league. Are we able to make that leap and be one of those challenging them, that's down to our owners and Klopp to sort out. It'll take money and the right signings. We've always had a fair amount of money but our signings are so erratic from brilliant to useless, this is what has to change.
The title of best manager in the world is up for grabs, since Fergie retired imo (I'll wash my hands don't worry). It's also a hard thing to gauge as so many variables come into account. He's the front runner for sure, he's the guy that's trying to change the way the sport is played - revolutionary as some have said. He'll have to be in the game for another good few years to conclude he's the 'best'. He's certainly the elite at the moment and could have pretty much chose where he wanted to go.
I'd say best manager in the game as to go to Anchelotti at present. Mourinho as been knocked down a peg or two after this season. Guardiola isn't far away, should he do well at Man city then I think he will be top dog (imo). I think there is a distinct lack of candidates for top manager. Obviously, someone must be top but there are very few stand out guys atm, only Anchelloti really. Klopp did a great job at Dortmund which actually gets more respect from me than Guardiola's efforts at Barca and Bayern but he's only done it at one club. If he can do it with us as well then he'll be right up there #tougherjob
ahem.... i think someone needs to check there PHAKTS Rikaard... won what? 04/05 league 05/06 league 05/06 champions league 05/06 super cup of spain manager from 03 to 08 vilanova was manager for how long... what did he get? cancer..... to give him no credit for what he did is bad... he won la liga and frnakly they were i nsemi finals of CL and got blown away not by peps bayern but by Heynckes power based barca... to say guardiola signed all those players is patently flase as their technical staff gets no credit at all... its like saying who signed neymar and suarez? to knock others who've done pretty well off the back of the set up at barca is plain wrong. The work at bayern frnakly shows he's not all that... bayern were best in europe, they are now about 4th best.. 3 titls in a row is no big deal either despite it being good.. why... its bayern.... Guardiola is like mourinho... he's got himself a great position to pick and choose. mourinho went from porto.. where his huge success was and walked into success at cheslea, into success at inter and then stalled at Real where he was second best to guardiola... he returned to cheslea and managed to **** that one over. Guardiloa has gone from two huge clubs to city... everythign shoudl be there for ehim. but the real test is now. he's got 3/4 really good players who can compate at the top but the rest? he's got a lot of players but none of them (zabaletta, sagna, kolarov, clichy, mangala, otamendi, delphy, fernandinho, fernando, dimichelas.....) are really top players. Theres a lot of work to do there to just establish dominance in the prem. silva, aguero and de bryune are there but a lot is needed
I get the point that some of us want to take the mick out of the few mancs on this board, especially if they had hope that they could get him. It was an open secret he was going to City. Why they would even hope that he would be going to United is beyond me. It was just a matter of announcing it. The rumours had been on going for months. On a broader context, I think it means that the premier league will have some of the best managers around: Klopp, Pep, Poch, (wenger), (Mourinho), And with the money available dwarfing anything other leagues have, there should be no excuse for our teams not to do well in Europe. What it also means is a domination of the premiership by City for at least the next few years. It is not a foregone conclusion as Chelsea and Leicester have shown this season but Pep is not a destructive character like Mourinho. Even if "we do our job" as you say, all things beign equal if they do theirs then I cannot see us having a look in.
kompany's injuries have to be looked at seriously by city. he is their one good cb but he's always injured it seems now. can't write him off but you have to start thinking.....
I think ok yes we should but......... the actual quality of the players isn't coming through and the ability to actually defend is lacking. this era of the prem kind of reminds me of the early 1990s. Utd struggled hugely in the CL back then. they couldn't come to terms with the requirement to defend properly hen and I honestly think ferguson learned a lot more than people give credit for at that time. I felt that in the last 1990s to about 2005 utd played more of a continental game than many gave credit for. they didn't give the ball away constantly. However i also think the midfield area has gotten so.... all about running and not about skill now that we've returned to that time and we can't bloody well keep hold of the ball for 5 mins. Most english teams have quite tasty forward lines and second forwards. lots of wide men, no 10s and no 9s but nothing in midfield and it then really shows when you come to play a decent outfit in europe who don't play the same pace all the time but can match up for 90 and retain the ball.
I think thats fair from gerrez. klopp did a great job for 6 of his 7 years at dortmund. He still has it all to prove as do ALL managers. nobody can phone it in. Klopp has taken on a big big challenge.
Best managers in the world (in no order): Simeone Conte Mourinho Klopp Guardiola Ancelotti Couple of old school candidates: Del Bosque Capello
