Yep it is a century long tradition. That s why we even publish things called league tables four months into the season
CFC must be sick in his stomach. 3-0 to United not much to come here and try his poor wumming efforts May be he is waiting for the Watford result tomorrow.
Arsenal having their usual Feb meltdown and go from competing for 4 trophies to fighting for top 4 in the space of a month...
No wins in 4 league games I heard earlier though I havent checked. Didnt realise Arsenal had been that poor tbh.
Treble, you can't just care about making good product and not think about how you break even. It doesn't matter how great your football is, if you ain't winning, it is useless football and I'm willing to bet most fans want winning first before entertainment. The thing with winning is that it allows you freedom of expression if you have the right set of players. But failure on the other hand brings pressure which then impacts everything else. Even great players start turning **** when they cannot win. There is no excuse for losing regardless of how pretty the football is. This is exactly why Arsenal has underachieved for so long. It has nothing to do with their defense as you mentioned in the other thread. And as the last four games, they have actually had strong defense. Winning is the most important thing in sport. Everything else is secondary. And when history is told, only the winners are remembered and how they achieve it becomes non-event.
Not sure why Arsenal are constantly referred to. Under Ferguson we won and entertained (for the majority of the time). That is our benchmark, not Arsenal.
5th February 2016 - (Man City, Arsenal, Leicester, Tottenham) - (Norwich, Sunderland, Villa). Very difficult. Could quite easily swap the first 4 around and maybe even add United.
newcastle are a funny one, decent squad, god awful manager...still think they'll survive. sunderland norwich villa down city spurs arsenal leicester top 4 hope norwich survive and newcastle go down purely so we can see all 3 promoted teams challenging to maintain prem status for a 2nd year, and who knows.... perhaps even become stoke/swansea
Actually I'm sure most fans want winning and entertainment. If you honestly believe Arsenal's defence has had nothing to do with their failure in the league then more fool you. And I'm not just talking about their back 4 but the whole defensive unit including balance of a quality defensive midfielder and decent goalie. I couldnt give a flying fck about history being told. I'll leave that for the fanboys and statto's. That's just more Skysports soundbites ffs. As for "how teams achieve it is a non-event", I bet most ppl can remember many more clubs/national sides who've entertained and won trophies than those who've bored their way to success. You fail to appreciate 2 things. Firstly, sport is also an artform and when I go to watch a match I want to see how my team can express and impress. A creative, expansive passing game built on attack and defence. Secondly, you can't win them all fella. Dull football doesnt equal success.
I updated the OP with the latest predictions. Safc83 you need to pick one of Sunderland/NUFC, I chose Sunderland as it appears first...
Top 4: Arsenal, Leicester, City, Tottenham Bottom 3: Villa, Sunderland, Swansea I think that's an unused combination? It was either that or stick Newcastle in instead of Swansea as the other combinations of teams using Norwich have been used and I think Norwich will drop. Newcastle have the players to stay up and I think they will do enough.
