Got an urge to watch Das Boot again, just got one of those Blu-ray players which allegedly upgrades DVDs so would be nice to see my favourite film in enhanced superglory mode for the first time
I'd rather just talk about films on this thread to be honest, maybe you should set up your own thread for elitist physics plonkers ( that's you not the genius that is Stephen Hawking)
Anyways, onto the actual thread topic instead of all that pretentious ****e made in a futile attempt to try and make a certain user look superior to other but only coming across as looking as big a **** as before... Off to see that 13 Hours today. As it is by Michael Bay, I have a strong suspicion it will be ****.
I'm at darts tonight so am watching a film today, problem is I'm babysitting my grand kids and no matter what they will not let me watch a film anything other than a cartoon, so believe it or not ..day 33, film 33 is... "Treasure planet". It's a Disney cartoon.. Kids are loving it....
Day 34, film 34, "terminus", never heard of Any of the cast so it might be ****... At least it's a grown ups film and not A bloody kids cartoon.. Oh and we won 8-3 Last night... Top o the league ma, top o the league..
Saw it on afdah and thought **** it, give it a go, And I'll bet it won't be the worst film I'll watch this year... Long long way to go............
Watched Groundhog Day again yesterday, such a great film. Watched Groundhog Day again yesterday, such a great film. Watched Groundhog Day again yesterday, such a great film. Watched Groundhog Day again yesterday, such a great film. Been to see Star Wars The Force Awakens again this evening, went with the old man who was yet to see it. Still ace, still my personal second fave of the saga.
Day 35, film 35, "a perfect day", it stars benicio Del toro And Tim Robbins, also olga kurylenko( who's **** I'd eat) It's described as "a group of aid workers resolve a crisis In a war zone" I thought it would be crap but how wrong I was, I loved it, there's some cracking songs in it also, well worth a Watch, it might not be to everyone's taste but I thought it was very good......
Have decided to watch a Coen Brothers film every night for the next week. Gonna watch Raising Arizona tonight.
I watched 'Moonwalkers' the other night. It's about the CIA filming a fake moon landing in case the real one doesn't come off. It's got Ron Pearlman (of Hellboy fame), Rupert Grint (of Harry Potter fame), boobs (of girl's chests fame) and drugs (of 60's fame) in it. It's pretty funny. 6/10.
Raising Arizona still as good as I remembered it was. Still Nicholas Cage's best film IMO. Day 2 of my Coen Brothers fix - Barton Fink.
Before this year is out I'm watching "unbroken" and "Inside Llewyn Davis, haven't seen them yet... I may be in a minority but I loved "country for old men" Oh! And I thought "Fargo" was really good.. Just my opinion !!
You aren't in a minority on either No Country or Fargo, those two are considered the Coen Brothers' best. You know No Country won the Best Picture Oscar, right? Fargo is definitely my fave. The TV series is superb too. Inside Llewyn Davis is such a beautiful and sad film. Unbroken they didn't direct, just wrote it.
So I went to watch The Revenant the other night and, yes the film features two truly outstanding performances, yes it is beautiful to look at and yes the actual act of film making in those conditions is a remarkable feat but - Jesus H - what a bag of ****e the story itself was. Truly the most formulaic, plodding story as old as time immemorial itself experience that I have witnessed in a long, long time to the point of being ball-achingly dull. I wasnt even tired and I nearly fell asleep about 10 times. 9 for the acting, 3 for the film - don't swallow the hype aimed at the gullible and instead just watch any episode of Bear Grylls.
I really liked No Country for Old Men right until the ending, it's one of those films for me where the ending spoils it. Need to rewatch it as I haven't seen it since the cinema, maybe second time around I can get over it!
Watched Kajaki last night - never have I flinched, winced and watched so much of a film through my fingers as I did this one, the words ''hard hitting'' don't come close. The young people in our armed forces never cease to amaze me ........... watch this one, if you can.
