Laurent departed Loftus Road to join Brentford this month and Ferdinand has admitted he was sad to see him leave. The former striker revealed today that he had spoken to Laurent to try and change his mind, but the damage had been done by previous employees of the club who had deemed him not good enough. “When Chris [Ramsey] and I came into the club, we watched the boys train and he was one of the boys we looked at and thought he had something,” Ferdinand said to QPR's website. “He had already been told he could leave the club by the previous regime, who didn’t feel he was going to make the grade. We came in and thought differently. Football is all about opinions, and in our opinion we felt he was good enough. To lose a prospect of his apparent class is a bitter blow for QPR, as their academy system has grown stagnant in recent times. The R's have failed to develop any meaningful talent into their first team for some time, but Ferdinand insists things are going to change in that respect. "Our reputation is about to change, it will change," he said. "That’s part of the reason I am here."
Please, give me a break ............. since when has Harry even pretended to play some of our youth. They are not stupid, you can only wait so long.
Should have been on the bench instead of SWP if only to save on the appearance fee. This club hasn't given a **** about youth for years. We'll have to play the likes of Donaldson next season most likely.

The anger that Laurent left wasn't simply that he left per se. He was offered a deal by the club but decided he had more chance of getting in the Brentford team while we were busy giving contracts to Kranjcar and Benayoun. I think he'd have stayed under the current mob. Hope he goes on to achieve something.
