Well, Pompey are now top of the table after a thrilling win against Rovers.
"The Skates are going up, the skates are going up, and now you're gonna believe us, and now you're ......."

Do you think this could be sung at Fratton Park by Christmas? (Possibly might need slight editing but Pompey doesn't scan as well <laugh>

Fratton Park may not be modernised. Or it may be.

The next biggie for the board is the Stadium. Big consultation coming over the next year or so - do the fans want a new stadium elsewhere in Portsmouth or do they want Fratton Park redeveloped?

There seems to be work going on behind the scenes although not much is coming out about it - just that it's right at the top of the agenda.

I had to come over and congrats you on getting to top of the table. Cook is doing it faster than I thought he would.

Yeovil parked the bus and got away with a 0-0 draw with only 29% possession. We need to start grinding out ugly 1-0 wins in these type of games if we're going to get out of this division.

Yes, would have expected "winning ugly" to be something Pompey would find fairly natural.

"Pompey's going up" works. Sort of grammatical, too.

Anyway,I thought you lot would be doing better than this.

No, it just doesn't scan as well.
    The Saints are going up
    The Skates are going up
Both work, but with Pompey, you would need a single syllable word to go in front. It could be "the", I suppose, followed by " 's"?
It's the rhythm of the the thing; three pairs of two beats, Dee-da, Dee-da, Dee-da, etc.
I'm sorry, but if we can't come up with something that scans better, then I fear Pompey may not make it;)

So if promotion becomes a reality, and ground improvements take place will there be a bust of Harry Redknapp in pride of place?

Yes, it had almost slipped my mind- rather like your teams thoughts of the auto-places.<laugh> I wondered if they were concentrating on the cup instead, but I guess not.<whistle>. I was surprised at the result today, mind. Thought you might get further in the competition going by from what I overheard on the train to Fratton. A group of lady passengers all seemed to agree most Pompey lads can sometimes manage a Semi. I hadn't thought them football fans, but they were quite insistent that it was possible, if only once a year.

At least we reached the fouth round of the cup, Channon, unlike your overpaid lot, who went out in the third round.

Hope Bournemouth go on to win the cup. It was a great atmosphere at today's South Coast derby :)

Nice hunk of change in the bank too. Good luck to Bournemouth, I wonder how long they will drop the 1st team and start to dream, if they continue to progress.

Nothing like a good cup run- it gets people dreaming. I hope Bournemouth do well, but have always had a soft spot for them. I guess all three clubs have come close to disaster over the years. I think all 3 promoted teams may stay up this year. When did that last happen?
