It is weird with him, but even more so Diaby where they had lots of frequent but unrelated problems, together with complications on a single injury.

Well we can debate all we want on Wilshere but there is one inescapable fact, he has contributed little for nearly 3 seasons. We need to get someone who is going to play, not some phantom that hardly does. We're about to lose 3 players this summer and if Wilshere is injured for most of next season then we're buggered.

You do realise that I'm going to think of him as some sort of ghost now that is haunting the Emirates! <laugh>

Wilshere is too good for Wenger to sell.

    Too much potential there.

I agree, no way will he be sold for many reasons, one of which is potential.

Wilshere will be kept and I'm fine with that, he's got good marketing value I'd imagine, he counts as home grown, has potential to be a good player and is in a different mould to some of our other midfielders in that he likes to go past his man rather than just pass round players.

I just hope in the summer we get in a couple more players of better quality who are less injury prone when Flamini, Arteta and Rosicky move on. I'm sure we will as we've only added El Neny to the midfield.

If Wilshere suffers one more major setback, I genuinely think we should get rid, irrespective of how much potential people on here think he does or doesn't have. But I know we won't sell him because he's Wenger's lovechild.

His last full season was in 2010-2011 where he played a full 35 premiership games, since then, he's been plagued with injuries, the first major one came in the 2012-2013 with a knee, then a malleolar (ankle) injury. Then in the 2013-2014 he got a sprained ankle, then a hairline crack in his foot. Then in 2014-2015, he got another malleolar (ankle) injury which ruled him out for almost all of that season. He started off this season injured and continued to get his comeback delayed.

I'm happy for Wenger to keep his lovechild as long as we get enough cover in CM this summer. I have more faith in Diaby making a comeback than Wilshere playing more than 3 games in a row, let alone the start of the season.

Realistically if Rosicky, Arteta and Flamballs go at the end of the season then we'll need to get someone new in. Elneny is clearly earmarked as one of these but you'd have to expect that we get at least one more central player. Not much we can do now with the squad numbers already assigned but I'd very much hope we're looking intently at replacements for the summer. As Lazarus says I'm happy for us to keep Jack but I think he'll be a luxury rather than a key asset as you can't rely on the poor guy. He is the PL's most injured player now ffs, worse even than Sturridge! Really feel for him as he's losing out on the most important years of his career.

Still, this thread is about wee Tomas who essentially is the player Jack can/will be, right down to the injuries.

I don't think Wilshere is injury prone I think he's unlucky with injuries.Wilshere is currently injured because Gabriel broke his leg in training.Rosicky is injury prone,he came on as a sub on Saturday and almost immediately pulled a thigh muscle,Diaby was injury prone..

Thing is with Jack it's nearly always the same problem, his ankle. It suggests an underlying frailty. If he had unrelated injuries you can say he's unlucky. Presumably anyway, I'm no f*cking doctor.

His current injury has nothing to do with his ankle though

And wasn't his last two injuries on different ankles?

Arsenal.com has it listed as an ankle injury.

As Smirnoff has just said though it's not the ankle he originally had a long term injury with.

Think it's indicative of his style of play. Always nipping the ball away at the last second leaves him open to oafery from opposing players.

Good point, I think his style of play has some bearing on why he keeps on getting injured. This is something the coaching staff and himself need to look at. Maybe tweak it and help reduce the amount of pressure on areas of his body that are prone to get injured. Also agree on the oafery from opposing players, he maybe needs to anticipate their challenges better, reducing any impending impact.

Perhaps young Jack also needs less oafery off his own team mates <laugh>
