They'd be crazy not to get Guardiola if available but Pellegrini can rightly feel hard done by, also he seems like a decent fella too.
Having met Manual Pelligrini a number of times and spoken to him, he's a thoroughly likeable guy who has taken Man City forward during his tenure. I'm sure he will get another high profile role from next season; wouldn't surprise me if he turns up at Chelsea
It's a merry-go-round isn't it? I could see Simeone going to Chelsea and Pelligrini going to Athletico Madrid.
Dont forget there will be a host of Top Managers avalible after the Euros too.. Mr Des Champs could make his way to the premier league
Chelsea possibly? He's a former player for them, albeit only one season. If France win the Euros (possible) I don't see him leaving.
But maybe with more foundation than thinking Simeone and Pellegrini will swap places. Add Abramovich's supposed thoughts on the matter to ?Simeone not speaking English, him having a long contract and Atletico not wanting him to leave, him being popular where he is and enjoying success there and it seems unlikely he will be ending up,st Chelsea. Of course in football logic doesn't always dictate what will happen.
As he never speaks to the press we can ignore what the papers say Abramovich is thinking. Things change very quickly in football.
He does speak to the press, just not directly ........... and can you blame him? Loose lips for a Russian oligarch/ex pat can be really bad for their health, the KGB still has long arms.
Doesn't stop other people leaking Abramovich's opinions though. I think it most unlikely Simeone will end up st Chelsea. I could be wrong though. First time for everything.
Abramovich is safe due to his KGB connections letting him get his money in the first place. And his astute handling of those connections through from Yeltsin to Putin (plus a lot of alleged financial sweeteners) meaning that Abramovich is the only one of the oligarchs who hasn't had the state after them and being free from the attentions of the successors to the KGB.
I'm guessing the gifting of his £25,000,000 'old castoff' yacht to Mr P will help keep his brownie point score high too.
Interesting reading of how Abramovich came to acquire his money and the connections he had. Putin was the head of the KGB in Dresden prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall, a Communist Party bigwig in Dresden at the time was Angela .Merkel. A conspiracy theorist could have a fieldday with that one.
I enjoy researching Abramovich, he's a compelling character - the way he mavoeuvred between the Yeltsin & Putin eras without a scratch, and keeping his fortune, was quite incredible.
