Looks like Man City played a "weakened" team today so Aguero and co will be raring to go on tuesday - in the words of unluck Alf on the fast show "bugger"

Bring Man City on!!!!! Aguero and all.......put the new lads in and get straight in their faces from the whistle. High press them all over the park. If Aguero goes for a **** I want somebody there to wipe his ass......all about hearts and minds till the end of the season....we can survive....

Personally I would let them come on and hit them on the break but like the "fight them on the beaches" attitude <ok>

Would rather go down fighting mate. I think for so long now we start the game at the SOL by sitting back and surrendering the initiative. I hate this with a passion. When teams come to the North East they have to leave knowing they have been in a game. Nothing better than starting high tempo with a few crunching tackles that gets the fans going. We get beat...we get beat but lets give it a go...imagine Aguero getting the ball out on the wing and Joe Bolton closing him down....lol? Used to live for that stuff. I think this is why the SOL isn't the same atmosphere as Roker Park. Got to get the crowd going and they will do the rest. We don't need to sit back to anyone....doing that gives them too much respect. We have some good players now....make them respect us :)

I Just think that if we high press that will leave too much room at the back for their flair players - i agree about a couple of crunching tackles but maybe about 40 yards out gets the crowd going as you say - Joe didn't like prisoners did he lol

I think with there flair players it really doesn't make a difference if we sit back. Silva can open a can of beans with his left foot. We have sat back before and got caned. Lets give them something to think about at the there back....it's their Achilles heel at the moment..... "balls for glory"....lol.... Joe Bolton...legend :)

We need a daft win the come from the next 3/4 games, why not make it this one?

We've a good at home record vs City and they've just played at the weekend.

They could quite easily tear us a new arsehole mind you...

I think we should be targeting a point away at West Ham and three points at home to Man Utd. Anything against City and away at Liverpool, is a bonus

I agree, High pressing leaves space, Man City destroy teams who do that.

Sit back, stay organised, frustrate, work hard on not leaving gaps, congest at the back and hope we can nick one on the break

We've tried the sit back approach before and got wiped....to me it's about the mentality of approaching the game. Sit back and you immediately give the advantage to the other team. We did it even against Bournemouth. With Defoe, M'Vila, Khazri lets give them something to worry about. The central two are the weakness...let's get at them. Defend from the front. Sitting back and trying to keep Aguerro and Silva out over 90 mins is a big ask if we surrender the initiative and sit back. Time to be positive and go for it....clocks ticking now. Let's make a statement...you come to Sunderland and we are going to be in your face...we want that win! Couldn't give a **** me whether they one of the top teams. Hope by the end of 90 mins on Tuesday night they know they have been in a hell of a game. If Kone is as fast as they say....just position inside Aguerro shorts....faint hearts win **** all.....

City are a bit different from Bournemouth though. They attack space with venom, it's what they do best, they'll carve us up, they're just far too good. Look what Everton did to us when we pressed high. I'd be absolutely staggered if Sam takes your approach. Not for me. I don't believe we can outscore Citih by creating an open game. It could saints away all over again.

There's different ways to press. Pressing high is suicide imo. I'd have our forwards sitting deep and pressing space rather than the man, that way they keep goal side, don't over commit, cover their angles and they won't surrender as much space. Everybody on else on the pitch needs to hold their position and stay switched on. Frustrated sides make mistakes, even the best. Best way of getting something out of the game in imo, that's how I'd set up anyway. Not that I fancy us to get anything.<laugh>
