I read that Dembele junior had his medical with us yesterday. But it looks like Fulham will get him back until summer.

Vejlkovic is reportedly off to Werder Bremen for around £500k + add-ons, while Stoke have emerged out of nowhere in the race to take Fazio off our hands In other news, some papers are doing what some papers do by linking Man Utd with a double swoop for Kane and Alli. Get over it, media, the empire has fallen - and we're the ****ing Ostrgoths.
"In other news, some papers are doing what some papers do by linking Man Utd with a double swoop for Kane and Alli. Get over it, media" We need the Spartan "If" here. Specifically if : - the transfer attempt is in the summer - and their manager is one said players would like to play for - and Man Utd qualify for the CL - and Spurs possibly do not Even allowing for another final third of season <standard> , that is still a lorry load of pre-requisite ifs for Man Utd.
I haven't really seen Costa do anything special/ magical if I'm honest mate, he's a bloody good goal scorer on his day but I haven't seen him do an Aguero or Sanchez in terms of creating something from nothing. Probably being Spurs biased but I'd have Kane over Costa any day of the week. Aguero and Sanchez (Hazard of last season would be added too) are a very rare breed, the sort where you need to pay above the £35m mark, hence the price tag. While we may not have a world class outfield star on the side (I'd class Hugo as world class for the record) we've got a very talented team who also work extremely hard. Usually it's hard to find a balance of getting a talented player to work hard, sounds easy enough but we all know it isn't and so while it'd be amazing to have an Aguero in the side, I don't think we massively lack one, there's plenty of goals in the squad from midfield to up front, hell even Toby is a goal threat from corners and so in some ways it's nice not to have to constantly wait for just one player to produce the business when we have a number of lads more than capable of grabbing a goal out of nowhere.
i must say I have been mystified by United's lack of activity. Their squad is in such desperate need of an overhaul its unreal. The complete absence of incomings more or less confirms what we already know: LVG won't be in charge come June and the club don't want him pissing more money up a wall. But there is so much deadwood in that squad surely they'd be looking to take advantage of the inflated January prices to clear a load out? Rojo, Evans, Periera, Valencia...that's just off the top of my head.
Whether berahino is the correct player or not, I personally think we'll go back in for him tomorrow. i can't see us getting a player from abroad for several reasons, and the berahino transfer makes sense. (He wants out, and we supposedly want him). I think Pearce is just calling our bluff, and we're doing the same by signing/making the transfer of Dembele known just before deadline day, in order to strengthen our position tomorrow. No one knows whether dembele is going back to Fulham, and with our history of officially announcing players very late, you can bet we delay the exact details of dembeles transfer for as long as possible.
Is the loan back deal not official yet? I thought it was and a few others have said similar. If it isn't yet official, you may well be right: we've told Fulham 'you can only have him back if we bring in another player before the window closes, otherwise he's moving now'. That makes a lot of sense...which means we'll do precisely the opposite and loan him back, fail to sign Berahino and sell Kane to Arsenal for 50p. Wouldn't be Spursy otherwise.
I don't know mate. These days I don't believe anything until Spurs official announce it. So if there's nothing from us saying that we've signed him but he's going back on loan, I'll take everything else that's been said with a pinch of salt. It's just common sense not to announce anything just yet. If it's common knowledge that he's going back on loan and its been officially announced, we'll either get our pants pulled down tomorrow, or we'll end up with no one.
Newcastle have had a £21m bid for berahino rejected. And Jim White from SSN has just tweeted saying that Stoke have bid in excess of £21m...
I wouldn't say carried away, but I do feel you are putting lots of trust and faith in Kane staying in tip-top shape and form. Personally, I'd like to see us get Berahinho tomorrow. He wants to come here, Pochettino will work his magic to get him back in shape and we'll have a real go at climbing up the table. Plus I can see us winning a cup too if we have him. If we miss out, and Kane has any problems between now and the end of the season, I'd be gutted. It's about time we had an embarrassment of riches in the striker department again. I think having a plan B is always a good idea. As long as they are as well drilled as they are for plan A, I'm all up for it.
Apparently the Dembele II deal broke down because we wanted him straight in but Fulham wanted to keep him until the Summer. Frankly if he's the right player for us long term I think we should have spent and then looked for something short term as cover for Kane, unless this is just more smoke and mirrors in our January dealings.
Only we can make the signing of a striker seem more problematic than the Quest for the Holy Grail and the search for a cure for the common cold. Can't we buy them someone they want as a replacement and loan him to them until they sort out their finances? Chelsea do nothing else but this!
