Decent Cup performance away to lower league opposition, both teams had a bit of luck with Dier's deflected goal, and Davies's own goal for Colchester. Colchester deserved the goal really as they kept fighting especially in the second half after they were so disrupted by injury early on, but we unquestionably deserved our 4 and maybe even more. Carroll impressed again IMO and is my Spurs man of the match, him Chadli and Trippier were our best today. Onwards!
Tom was a delight on the ball. Without it...he just looks lost. I'm sure the club have worked with him on strength and athleticism but he still looks lacking. Wenger says everyone but Arsenal are on drugs. Can we not get Tom some?
Lol - he's not on here talking to us any more - he's off to get his winnings. Good performance today - we were clearly a class a part and strolled it really. Agree with what's been said about Carroll. I do like seeing him on the ball - as can the other players who can make runs and know they can be found. Trippier really coming into his own a bit and I've noticed the last few games how much more vocal and authoritative he's being with his team-mates, pointing and organising when defending and today several times directing players to where he wanted them or wanted them to give it to him.
Nothing yet. I need Hull to win 3-1(currently 1-0) and I make £450 off a £1.50 bet. I do have Spurs -1 in an accumulator too and all but Bournemouth are currently winning
16/1, along with the Hull game also being 16/1. Managed to get close to £500 off a fiver last weekend too with a Spurs, Soton, Chelsea and Watford quadruple. I've had a shocking season so it didn't even drag me much into the profits overall
West Brom just likely cost me £1,500. All I needed was for them to beat Peterborough with Everton and Carlisle left to play and I would've been bang in the money providing Everton won, I now just hope Carlisle win 8-0 to make the loss a little easier.
As for our game, nice little booster for some of the squad players. Carroll played really well in the second half and his goal was a just reward, the back four were good with Trippier & Dier excelling. Chadli was immense, two goals and an assist, puts him in line for a Prem start in my opinion, especially after his goals against Leicester and Palace. Colchester had about a ten minute period where they troubled us but aside from that it was a comfortable win, I thought this may have been a banana skin for us seeing the contrasting seasons of both sides but thankfully we got by fairly comfortably with no injuries, could've scored another two or three as well. Hope their CB is doing ok, really nasty collision.
Ah, damn, I had Posh in my Cupset treble so neither of us were left happy. Mind you Burnley lost and Sheffield Wednesday lost after taking a 2 goal lead so that bet was ****ed anyway! Totally bottled it on the cashouts today at the end, losing me about £100 but £520 is a very good day for me. Especially since it was off about £15 of bets(incl losers).
I've seen, at least on a couple of sites, the Bentaleb slating from the start of the season is still a thing. Probably not a good idea to mention Shaq Coulthirst got off the mark for Peterborough today, then?
That's not nice or necessary. If he can learn when to try the intricate and spectacular and when to leave it out, what a talent he'll be. If he doesn't then a career at Newcastle awaits him.
Job done, but I still feel Pochettino is tempting fate with his starting XIs for these games. The Colchester injury event should be proof enough of what can happen.

Good to see a comfortable Spurs win. It’s nice to see so many positive comments. I was going to carp a bit, but maybe I’ll refrain. I really like Trippier’s effect on this team. Having a player who serves as a default option for our attacking, who crosses very reliably and reasonably well, really works for us. Everyone knows when to head to the goal mouth, and the chances of something good happening are very reasonable. Carroll is looking more and more like a good number 10. He has a nice eye for goal, and passes very well. On the other hand, Bentaleb and Carroll did not work well as a deep lying pair. Bentaleb is clearly a talented player but hasn’t found the right role with this team. I think he tends to play all over the field for Algeria, and that seems to suit him. He’s certainly talented and very athletic. Chadli may not do much work defensively, but if he keeps scoring three goals and getting two assists every two games, he has to start. It’s very handy to have a player who was barely second choice this year win two games for us on the trot. The different threats that have been developing are overloading defenses. Now it’s not just Kane and Eirksen, but Alli, Son, Chadli and Trippier’s crosses. Meanwhile Dier, Dembélé, Rose and Alderweireld are chipping in as well. But I still say they should have had two or three, we should have had six or seven, and it looked like a team who’d been on vacation all week.
Bentlaeb did very well least year when he and Mason had more freedom to work the entire pitch as they read each others' games very well. He seems to have some more freedom in his role with Algeria too. For Spurs this season though he is being asked to play a different role where he needs to be a more disciplined and curtail his roaming instincts a bit, the transition to this hasn't been the smoothest yet although its fair to say that he faced a series of ankle issues this season too which will have stopped his potential to adapt at the same pace Dier has. At 21 though he has a few years yet to find his role with us IMO and he has everything going for him - he's a great athlete who has the physical attributes to play in quite a few positions, and if he can develop his decision making and positional reliability then I foresee the future being very bright for him. He's quite good on the ball too and hopefully will only improve in that regard as well. Plus we have a coach who has done well with a number of young players and hopefully can repeat that success with Bentaleb, who for me at the moment falls into the category of 'rough diamond' - lets not forget how important he was for us last year. The only obstacle I foresee for him is a lack of playing time in the first team as Dier is performing so well in his position.
Chances are now that we will face Crystal Palace in the next round-with Ade playing a blinder. Only last week we were saying we were happy we wouldn't have to face him/them. In truth , as we pay part of his wage, he shouldn't be allowed to play.
At the start of last season Bentaleb was playing the more creative role in the pivot with Capoue performing the more defensive role, and he played a similar role in the Development squad IIRC - but with Capoue being sent to the cornfields he was drafted to fill in that role. The obvious suggestion is to have a Dier/Bentaleb pivot, but this raises obvious problems about where to fit in Alli and Dembele.
Yeah nice one on the £520, deifnitely a good day for you! Lol. I haven't had much luck on the football this season, had more joy on the horses although half the time I'm betting on a name rather than reading form/ jockey .
Same apart from the horses bit. Abysmal season, not helped any by a few late goals screwing me. Yesterday was all luck though but I guess you'd expect that for a 272/1 bet coming in lol. Easily the biggest odds I've ever had on a winning bet(apart from some 10p doubles but they don't really count).
It always seems to be late goals that ****s bets doesn't it? I'd find it a lot less annoying if I lost my bet in the first half where your team are already 3-0 down but no, situations like yesterday where WBA make it 2-1 in the 84th causing me to jump for joy only to then concede two minutes later and make me wanna smash my phone to bits is exactly why I constantly ask myself why I put myself through the agony of gambling.
