Sorry to see Joe go. I always thought he was a good finisher and hard worker and was going to push on and be a big player for us, particularly after he performed well in the cup final vs Liverpool. For one reason or another it hasn't happened. To be fair I think our team has become a bit of a graveyard for strikers over recent years with seemingly exciting players coming and going after failing to make an impact with us.
Kenneth Zohore anyone? WoL say we are linked with this 21 year old Danish centre forward. A big guy 6 ft 3 1/2 ins. Played about 70 games with 17 goals. Hardly prolific. Underwhelmed!!
Not joking at all. I genuinely thought he may have had a big future. Performing and scoring against the big boys in a cup final at a young age and popping up with goals in the league. Seemed to lose his way and got shipped off to Bolton. I thought this was because we were getting the stars in whilst a premiership side and maybe he needed more regular game time. Although nobody in this time has really performed any better. I still think the move is good for him and for the club financially (small drop in the ocean towards the millions that have been wasted).
Malky and Moody arranged it - one for the future.......... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35435452
Also................. "On 3 February 2015 Odense Boldklub announced that Zohore, who was unemployed, had joined the Danish Superliga club." He must be good then.
His strike rate 0.3 games less per goal than Mason's who according to a large section of our support is a finisher. He's 21 so whilst we need one for the now not the future he obviously should have more room for development than a 25 year old. Looking at our transfer policy as a whole, lets be realistic. We can not sign anything like a sure thing up front. When Washington is leaving L1 with a £5m odd price tag it's fair to say we're not likely to be in a position to sign a player with a proven scoring record in English football and potential any time soon. Mason's paltry return being valued at £3.5 shows how desperate people are. The eye watering figures involved make the sort of gambles we're currently making a lot more understandable imo.
A gamble that could pay off Stevo - and I bet he isn't going to be on £45K a week because of his "potential".
Agreed, you can probably have 4 of Saadi's, Zohore types for 1 KWJ. If a 21 year old suddenly starts scoring in the Championship you see a pretty rapid return on investment and pay for the next 5 or 6 gambles in the process
I was actually referring to the untried Corny fiasco from the same country. If Zahore gets it going over here, it would be a nice bonus.
I've tried to erase that from my memory I did know what you were getting at with the "potential" comment
Would not expect him to be match fit The Danish super League has been holding a Winter break since the end of november and starts up Again later in february Note to the transfer commitee 1million Kroner =1 hundred thousand Pounds --just so we avoid another Corny debacle
WOL Slade added: “I’m very hopeful of delivering two players more. One will come very late. But we have an agreement in place. Will be good for us. Let’s hope the ones that come in settle and gert the goals to push it on. They are two forward type of players.” Sounds like we've got someone lined up but they need to get the replacement in first. I do like that we seem to be able to keep our business a lot quieter these days
http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/35454637 And there's the one that's lined up. I'd be very happy to see him come in
Agreed. Be good if it happens. He showed his ability in the Wales v Holland game and if memory serves me correctly has played well against us in the past. Just needs regular games. One to get a little bit excited about.
Looks promising if you believe the local press up there. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.u...oin_Championship_rivals_Cardiff_City/?ref=mac
