I think we're all forgetting that most of Suarez's league goals came from the dutch league, which is frankly quite appalling.

Well if I was a Liverpool fan I wouldn't want him to get too good, he's already admitted he wants to go to Barca if they offer him a deal.

I actually would say Rooney is better at the moment as Suarez hasn't been consistent at the top level yet, but I think he has the potential to be better than Rooney. I was just pointing out that your argument was pretty innaccurate and clutching at straws.

If he eventually wants to go...he will be let go..we'll just find someone else.No player is bigger than Liverpool. However Wayne Rooney is bigger than Manchester United when he bullied the bully.Years ago,Ferguson would have drop kicked him out of the stadium...he punished him by giving him a 150% pay-rise.

Suarez and Carroll are going to be frightening. If we can get Rampaging Raheem through in the foreseeable future, then its going to be even better.

Carroll is not scary at all... Darren Bent would have been a better buy if you ask me!

I was actually trying to make a similar point, albeit in a fairly clumsy way. Right now I don't believe either of them is clearly better at the moment, and both have the potential to improve and be markedly better in the future. But Rooney has proven himself at the highest level, and has shown that he has the ability to score goals at a similar rate in the PL to Suarez in Holland, albeit in different contexts.

Gonna be interesting to see how the two of them shape up next season.

I think your forgetting that you can only score in the league your in, are you trying to suggest that you can only judge a players quality if they play in one of the 'big leagues'? His International record along with the time he has spent with us, does more than enough to suggest his record in Holland was no fluke, or down to a poor league.

Rooney scored a higher percentage of goals in one season than Suarez averaged in 3 seasons.I don't think this makes any sense.
    Lets do a fairer average.Luis Suarez 110 goals in 148 appearances.Thats 1 goal every 1.34 games.
    Wayne Rooney....130 goals in 285 appearances....thats 1 goal ever 2.2 games.Now who's better?

Yeah, I understand it's kinda hard to make your point when you're getting abused by so many people for your opinion though, it would be similar if I went on the Man Yernited board and said Kuyt was better than Park or something.

Yeah, Rooney will need to make up for his lack of goals next season and show that he's able to play 'in the hole' week in week out and Suarez will have to show that he can adapt to our more expansive game with proper wingers under Kenny instead of wide midfielders a la Maxi. Will definitely be interesting to see which one adapts the best and has the best season.

It's inconclusive due to the different leagues, positions and teams they were in. Darren Bent scores more goals then Rooney but who is better?

The funniest thing is that I never actually said Rooney was better than Suarez. I was just pointing out that in Rooney's **** season at Utd he still managed to get a better goals / assists ratio to Suarez at Liverpool despite both teams being in similar form at the time. It was interesting to see how many 'pool fans assumed I must be saying Rooney was better as a result :)

I actually thought Rooney did make up for his lack of goals quite well with 11 assists this season - Drogba was the only striker to get more assists than Rooney this season. In fact, only Nani, Tevez, Berbatov and Van Persie got more goals + assists last season. Not bad for his worst ever season! He did the same in 05/06, 06/07 and 07/08 when he wasn't scoring a lot as well - he ended up with at least 10 goals and ten assists in each season. I can't think of many players that manage double figures in both goals and assists on such a regular basis - Drogba, Lampard and Fabregas are the only ones that immediately spring to mind.
