He is 23 years old and has made 48 appearances for the Swans since joining from Espanyol in 2013, but has started just one Barclays Premier League game this season.

    I really respect Amat .
Quiet and unassuming , never complains it seems and knows his job and is ready when called upon.
Totally pissed off when the club demanded Monk make changes his last 3 games in charge and he took out Fernandez , which was bad enough , but played Bartley ahead of Amat no matter how bad Bartley played each time out .
Monk single biggest mistake was making a mistake and continuing the mistake to make it look like a mistake wasn't made in the first place .

From what I read,he seems quite happy with his lot. Plays the occasional game,on a good wage. Security for another three years,by which time he will be 26. Time to move then,if needs be,or opportunity arises. Utopia,I think.
Also,he doesn't have to deal with Valley.

Great news for the club, especially as Guido likes to play 3 at the back on times. I see Amat being used more regularly for the rest of the season.

Yeah, he put in a few good tackles at Everton during the last few minutes. I like his enthusiasm.

With him playing games with both Ash and Fed at the same time, it's the perfect development for him for when he takes over from Ash in the next 18 months or so.

It'll be interesting to see how Guids implements three at the back. Amat's perfect cover for the central defence as it is, so he's indespensible anyway.

I'd like to think that by signing this extension, Guido has told him he's important to his plans.

Always liked Amat. Yes, he's prone to the odd mistake but who isn't? Like Breezy, I'd put him ahead of Bartley in the pecking order right now. He's also pretty versatile too and can play out of position if I remember correctly. A good Club asset. <ok>

Amat joined us as a green young defender who i cant remember who signed him but he must have shown promise and one for the future, We are giving him games and he is learning and getting better, He will be a very important member of our defence team for the future when players like Rangel and ash slow down or hang up their boots. I like him...

Huge fan of Amat. So much better than Bartley - both from a footballing and defending viewpoint. Has the fire in him for the Swans and always gives his all. When Spanish-gate kicked off, he took no sides and continued to get on with his job despite clearly being close with Michu, Pozuelo, Canas and Hernandez - that in itself is admirable and shows he's committed to the cause and professional to the core. He's dependable and will certainly be a future starting CB and senior figure for us if we can develop him from here and slowly work him into the first team over these next 3 seasons.
