I accept that it's part and parcel of today's youth but for someone of a certain age it's not good enough to be that attached to it! <doh> My fella's a media technician and he hates his!

Personally I would just tell her straight, you have known her a long time and she should respect what your saying and work on stopping. If she has any emotional intelligence her response will be "you're right, I'm sorry".

I used to get unused pools coupons and fill in the squares with felt-tips- to make patterns, initially, then rough pictures as I got better.
When I was older I used graph paper to do it on a larger scale.

Like a large pixel picture. :)

Btw. how long before one of the board foetuses comes on to take the piss?

you must be thinking something else wishi, all you needed was a piece of paper and a pencil, preferably the maths one with the squares on it.

you basically just moved up each time with the line going round, you ever see the old school rave flyers had those type of patterns on them.

its hard to explain unless you know what i mean <laugh>

You are right, but I don't want to fall out over it, either.

You don't have to fall out over it. If you talk to her diplomatically or make the point in jhest first them move the conversation to a slightly more serious tone you should avoid an arguement.

Remember it's not what you say it's how you say it.

Might take me a while to stop being annoyed about it first. I can't speak rationally and calmy when I'm annoyed and I might say something I'll regret :(

I can understand that, but lifes too short to let this really get to you. When you've calmed down, talk to her then.

You're right, ademuzzy. I'm feeling irrational about it, but it does piss me off, unfortunately

I often wondered about Spirograph but wasn't into art and pattern back then. Would appreciate it more now and with the introduction of adult colouring books could make an impact these days

I work in IT only got broadband for home 3 years ago still haven't got a smartphone - come to think about it i hate modern tech <cool> possibly cos that is what i deal with all day along - with numpty staff

my most diplomatic way of dealing with a similar situation was "FFS turn that off before i drop it in your pint" not subtle but sort of worked though he did spend so much time in the toilets i suggested he book an appointment with a urologist . which suggests he just protected his iphone. he doesn't come drinking with us much any more.<whistle>

    So there's a couple thing.

    1. Most dont realise they are this bad.

    2. Some take great offense at being told.

I also hate this but recognise the temptation in myself so....

My advice is to tell her out straight at a good time like early in a day over a coffee or some such and not on a night out or whatever.

If she gets upset just say hey ok, just my opinion and leave it.

If they don't invite you anywhere for a while that's on them. If they do and are the same then just ignore them all night. I would bet though they will be different after being told cos not many want to be that person
