Surely that's the point? Rooney had his worst season ever in a Utd shirt, by quite some margin, whilst Suarez has had an outstanding debut season. However from January to June, when both players were playing in the PL at the same time, Rooney scored and created almost twice as many PL goals as Suarez despite playing roughly the same number of games. And this is over a period when Utd and Liverpool had roughly similar form.

So if Rooney on terrible form outscores Suarez on top form, what would Rooney on top form do? Bearing in mind that Rooney's goalscoring record in 2009/10 was better than Suarez's over his Ajax career.

I think Liverpool fans would do the same if Utd fans created a thread on the Utd board hailing the achievements of Rooney. It's probably a territorial thing :)

Rooneys goal-scoring form is similar to Suarezs' form for Ajax.
I'm no maths genius but how in the name of sweet jesus is 130 goals in 285 appearances(Rooney) the same as 110 goals in 148 appearances(Suarez)?

Suarez scored 49 goals in 48 games in 09/10 season did he not?

Well done for pointing out Swarbs epic fail. How long will it take for people to realise that ''Plain'' Rooney is not world class, was never world class or will ever be world class.

Swarbs has convinced himself that Rooney is world class...He also thinks that Darron Gibson and Anderson will eventually become average midfielders.

I know reading is a complex concept but:

Rooney 2009/10: 34 goals in 44 games. 0.77 goals per game
Suarez over his Ajax career: 111 goals in 159 games. 0.69 goals per game

I know that's comparing one season with three and a half seasons, but given that 09/10 was the only season where we used Rooney as a goal scoring striker it seemed like a fair comparison. But don't let that stop the bile from flowing <ok>

But Suarez played on the wing for Ajax? He was never actually used as a poacher like Rooney was used in 09/10.

And when Rooney played on the wing for Ajax his goalscoring record was pretty average compared to strikers.

09/10 was the only year we used him as a goal-scoring striker.
What was he before that...a midfielder?
Dirk Kuyt who also played on the right when Rooney was on the right out-scored him.Now would you care to explain why Rooney only averaged 12 goals before that. One good season in 7 does not make someone world class.Consistent high goal-scoring does.

And comparing one seasons stats against a players whole time at one club is quite embarrassing to be honest.

Didn't he play in a similar style to Ronaldo for Utd? More like a wide forward receiving the ball from out wide and then cutting in towards goal? Or cutting in from out wide to receive the ball from the striker, which was often the role Rooney used to play to set up Ronaldo back in 07/08.

You mean when Rooney played on the wing for Utd? Again that was more because he looked to play like an orthodox winger and set other players up rather than being a Ronaldo / Suarez style of wide player who just cut in to score goals.

Anyway, I can't be bothered going down the long tedious argument road on a Monday morning. Like I said before, Utd players will rate Rooney higher and Liverpool fans will rate Suarez higher - it's all a territorial thing. Same as VDS vs Reina. The random jumping to conclusions comments above only prove that point <ok>

    Exactly.
One good return in 7 doesn't make someone great. When Rooney was with Everton,he got more yellow cards than goals.

    Well said <ok>

To be honest this is the kind of bullshit we have to listen to everyday. To be fair on Swarbs, he is by far the most knowledgeable poster on the Utd board (imo), wait till the other lot turn up! Usually about 3:30ish when school finishes.
