I have seen comments I would have liked to delete on some of my threads. Also on the F1 Board there have been some unacceptable comments being posted, that I know the OP would have liked to delete. The mods already have this power, but on the General Chat board there have been racist comments from Huth(Dickhead) and I know this is a free-speak board, but surely racism is taking it to far. Obviously anyone caught cheating the system and deleting comments they disagree with will be dealt with by the mods. I will leave the poll open for 2 weeks to see what replies I get. So should the OP/Thread Starter get the ability to delete comments??
If people post disgusting comments, then I think it's better for others to see the kind of level they are on.
You can see who deleted comments in 'Spy'. It's already stated unequivocally that racist comments will not be tolerated, so I don't see any grey area here.
Sorry, what I meant was how would a Mod know to distinguish between what is "deleting comments they disagree with" and what is considered offensive? It sounds a little too much like 606 to me with people complaining right, left and centre about posts they don't like.
Anything that takes power into the OPs hand and away from the mods Im for.Good for reverse wumming too!
No to OP's being able to delete posts. This is a democracy. As most know I am totally against all things racist, homophobic and sickening delights in people's deaths but I still would not want to delete anything just because I am offended by it. Everyone has their voice. It's up to people to deecide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. Genuine debate should be encouraged at all times.
Should words like Hun be banned? it's a derogatory term for a protestant in NI (where medro is from) and yet people like Dev still use it against Medro.
I always wondered why racism gets special treatment? Why is it OK to make fun of someone for being ginger or old or gay or a women or supporting Cardiff City but not for their race? In answer to the question though I really like Youtube's implementation whereby comments marked as spam are minimized, hence not seen by anyone scanning but still there is someone wants to see what has been said. If something similar was implemented here it would mean the OP has a way of flaggin posts he thinks are out of line but he doesnt have enough power to simply remove those who disagree with him completely.
Actually, whilst I do agree that people should usually be allowed to post what they want I do reckon that anyone posting that ****ing dancing man thing should be banned from the forum - after we've been able to get their details so we can go and give them a good shoeing obviously.
