We're seeing the start of a massive rethink. 1m refugees and economic migrants last year, at least 3m predicted for 2016. It can't go on. EU countries are starting to protect themselves unilaterally, the Danes today authorising the confiscation of certain assets from incoming immigrants. If we get out, I think others will follow. Perhaps we could then go for a common market rather than political union

Apparently the Danes are just treating the foreigners like they do the locals
If you have assets you don't get handouts
Wonder if it will catch on

Do you want the whole EU to crash and burn or just the UK out of it Col? I think you'll get your wish on the latter, and that's fine by me as increasingly I feel we are just the wrong fit for what is a great idea appallingly implemented. But if the EU concept goes under it could have even worse consequences for stability in Europe, and not just economics.

Several years back here in Oz, the Rudd ( Labour ) government, as one of it's first official acts, decided in their wisdom to pay illegal immigrants the equivalent of unemployment benefits, plus full health care, once they were brought ashore, whilst waiting to be 'screened'.

That's what I call sending the right message to the illegal boat people smugglers.
If we were part of the EU and Labour was in government, we would take each and every 'road traveller', whilst advertising for any other riff raff to come on board while were in the mood.

History has shown here in Australia, Labour blows the budget / deficit to record debts ................ The Liberal / coalition governments are forced to make unfavorable decisions to then reel it back. Happens every time.

Same with Labour here. Sounds good on paper, but after a while you need the Tories to set things straight again. Trouble is, that's often unpopular, leading to the fiction that is 'nasty Tories' and another period of royally screwing the nation that a Labour government always delivers...

The court of appeal has found against the government in cases brought by victims of the 'bedroom tax'.

Bastards. How dare they challenge this not-at-all nasty policy. Fear not, though, the cuddly Tories are going to appeal to the Supreme Court.

You can tell Cameron and his 'chums' are sh*tting themselves, Mark Carney now saying national debt will work against us if we leave and lots of big business and EU supporters starting the long relentless brain-washing campaign to scare everyone into voting yes.

A Spring full of horror stories from various European countries should do the 'No' campaign's job for them...

Exactly - the facts will speak louder than Government spin, despite the many millions Cameron's friends will spend.

At some point, some of his comfortably placed ministers will have to think beyond furthering their careers and do right by the country. It remains to be seen which ones.

I'm just hoping that when Cameron announces the negotiations with the EU are over and it's clear he's achieved two halves of fc uk all, some will see the writing on the wall

Whatever you think about this group it shouldn't be possible to provoke the responses seen in the video.

This is a by-product of multi-culturalism, and allowing numbers so large so as to not assimilate.

With opinions like that when scratching only slightly below the surface it's no surprise so many sign up to likes of ISIS and won't be surprised if Paris style happens here participated in or aided by British citizens

Luton's one of the UK's centre's of extremist Islamic views. I've felt intimidated there before now, before a match. It's not getting better, it's getting worse. Government needs to wake up.

Felt a bit sorry for the couple of constables and female pcso's. They'd have been dead useful if it had all kicked off...

On a day when the guardian readers made a mess in their pants after the excitement of being able to get uppity over David Cameron referring to those at Calais in literal terms as a 'bunch of migrants'.

Highlights that the focus and outrage by the extreme minority with excessive interest in politics that dominate the media and twitter is on the wrong parts of the debate. And this is doing long term harm to our country as you see the reality at street level amongst the masses who don't integrate, who the do-gooders on the left have no real exposure to or interaction with.

To be fair, Cameron did get it wrong by referring to "a bunch of migrants". He should have referred to "a bunch of economic migrants", because that's what most of them are. They should be sent home, the camps disbanded by the French and those that are left and in genuine need can be helped.

I sense the media is changing slowly, but not fast enough to keep up with public opinion. I really do fear that there will be an atrocity carried out in the UK by Islamic extremists during this year, and of those terrorists that are home-grown, most will probably come from the type of impenetrable Islamic ghetto-like town such as Luton.

Cameron would have been delighted that his use of that term succeeded in drawing attention away from the Google give-away.

    That's a good question mate.
I think the EU is in danger of imploding and that may well not be a good thing for the security of those European Countries.

We really must get off this sinking ship imo.

Was that the same time he used the phrase "swarm of migrants" or was that on another occasion?

I see the French authorities have put up container accommodation for the migrants to move into instead of living in the squalor of the place they call "The Jungle".......but they were refusing to move in there as it was viewed as a holding center.......In my mind if you're fleeing in fear of your life then you would be happy to accept any accommodation that a host country is prepared to put together for you.......

Out of interest what happened to this rule within the EU that if you were a refugee/migrant etc you had to seek asylum in the country that you landed in.....that seems to have been forgotten......

Swarm was another occasion. So he's done swarm and bunch, I'm expecting gaggle next

Spot on about migrant demands. The thought of human rights gives them a sense of great entitlement.

The asylum point is the Dublin Accord. Mrs Merkel wants to abandon it so she can force member states to take the migrants that she invited to come

Latest figures show that 60% of the migrants in Europe are economic migrants and not fleeing for their lives.
Will the EU ever wake up. They are sleepwalking into a massive disaster and trying to drag us along with them.
Cameron's decision to take refugees direct from Syria looks better by the minute.
