I agree he doesn't seem up for the challenge. Maybe wait till the season's end though. I doubt what Sociedad will be looking to pay will cover our outlay though; Jaunmi's £5m fee was allegedly a bargian release clause figure, Sociedad were hovering then but balked.

 

Personally I agree. Ive seen nothing to suggest he has real potential. He was anonymous against palace in the cup.

 

He has potential, no doubt. You only have to see how good his touch is. The real question is if he has it for playing here. There, I'd agree that he hasn't shown too much to suggest that he can cope with the pace and physicality of our game. Potential and ability he has. Stomach or style for the UK game????? not sure.

 

As I wend my weary way through life I've come to the conclusion that excellence is all in the mind. There are a thousand players in any sport who are technically capable but it's a rare one that can team that to the confidence and determination truly to succeed. As an example, I'd have José as having less technical skill than some players but that lack is totally overwhelmed by his desire to win.

Juanmi certainly has the skills but does he have the mind? I hope that Ron and the team are working on that. If he has it or can develop it, I think he'll be excellent.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has informed Fernando Torres that he does not form part of his plans for the 2016/17 season, reports AS.

Yeah, that is interesting. I think his fundamental confidence as a footballer got shot at some point in his career, whether at Chelsea or whenever. and he's never regained it. And that meant his game as a striker went down the toilet.

Saying that, I have absolutely no idea how well he's doing for his loan club. Might be the star for all I know.

 

Andros Townsend has been signed by Newcastle. Thank goodness we won't be plagued by that rumour anymore. And he's cost a cool £12M too:

Have you noticed how contented we all are. Usually we'd be fretting for even more signings, but we are all happy polishing Charlie as our sole purchase.

I am amazed anyone would pay £12m for him. Worth having in your squad for £3m, but I just wouldnt want him here.

 

He polarises opinions to some degree. There's no doubt that at a certain point in his career he was starting to look very capable indeed. He also tries things on goal that others maybe wouldn't. This helps to make him seem unpredictable and appear dangerous. But his concentration seems to be an issue with the Spuds manager. I think the England recognition may have come a bit too early, so his head got a little swelled perhaps.

Tbh, I think Newcastle are one of the last clubs he needs to get his career going again with.

Nah. No way. Nein. Non. Or in other words: WHAT A ****ING RIP OFF.

 

The only thing I'm remotely itchy about is the media suggesting that Pelle might leave before the Window closes. My sensible head knows this is complete bunkum, especially as Ronald said so just the other day, I will repeat it 80 times if you want me to, nobody will leave.
But occasionally I catch myself slightly on edge and it's mainly down to the media saying Pelle will go to Juventus because we've signed Charlie Austin. I know he's an addition to the squad, not a replacement.., but they made a plausible argument out of it.

Don't worry, my sensible head is in control 99% of the time, so I'm not suffering.

 

Just goes to show how big a bargain Austin is. £12M is too much for Townsend. OK, he's young, but he's lost that spark. Newcastle aren't the club to rekindle it. Somewhere like AFCB would do him a power of good, but they wouldn't pay £12M and rightly too. A reasonable price, but no bargain, would be £8M, but he'd have get back on track. Personally, I see a downward spiral. Spurs have offloaded him and are no doubt laughing.

This is a new one...Pelle to Leicester. Can't even see the logic here....Leicester may be doing excellently this season, but I still don't consider them a step up from us. Would Champions' League next season be enough of a lure. Won't repeat all the reasons we don't want to release a striker.

 

It's a swap for Mahrez and Vardy.
